I want to say that I love my RIR's and I have exhibition birds not hatchery. My rooster is the nicest bird, though for some odd reason, he is bald on both sides of his neck, maybe the hens are getting fresh with him? Anyway, he would not come after me at all, which is a good thing, seeing he is so large, however, I do find the hens are very cannibalistic, I used to have two roos until one turned out dead and partially eaten one day.
I have both rose comb and single comb, my rooster is rose, due to the weather I did not want single combed, and this year out of 12 chicks I got 1/2 single and half rose. Want to increase my flock some.
I do not take a whole lot of pics of them, but here are some of the boys from last year, and then the one boy I have left from January (he was not my favorite) And one of some chicks from last month.
Last years boys
The one boy this year- he was not my favorite as his comb was much more bumpy than the other one.
and some chicks
I only have one Rose Combed female last year and she has a serious cross beak, so do not take pics of her. I am hoping for some girls out of the 12 I hatched.
