? I am not sure what you are talking about....My roo seems fine to me...No sicknesses....Has your rooster been vaccinated for Marek's disease because he sure sounds like he's experiencing some of the same symptoms that some of my 'older' roosters have experienced on their downhill slide.
The only other thing that comes to mind is bumble foot. Have you checked the bottom of his feet for thick scabs with a hardened area in his pad.
The reason I asked about Marek's is because I have lost roosters at that age to neurological symptoms that at first made me suspect that they had suffered a stroke. I have also lost roosters at 2 to resperatory distress. Marek's disease can cause lesions on the brain and nervous system that causes stroke like symptoms and lung tumors.
I sincerely hope it isn't because there isn't much you can do except make them comfortable and/or put them down when they get to the point that they are suffering.
Unfortunately it is a diagnosis to consider.
Oh, that is not my rooster, it was @Carlos Viagra's.No, I'm responding to the right thread. You said that your rooster has been limping and somebody at a feed store suggested that it had suffered a stroke.
I replied that I just lost a rooster recently that I thought had stroked although he was barely a year old. It turned out to be probable Marek's disease.
I suggest you do a search for the disease on BYC's search engine. A chicken with Marek's disease doesn't necessarily show any illness until symptoms of the disease itself pop up.
Good luck. I sincerely hope it isn't Marek's disease as it is a heartbreaking condition to deal with.
