I love emus! Only met one once, never had one. He was so sweet! I love their tiny wings and weird double feathers.

I have only interacted with emu at the zoo, so this is a first for me too! So excited.

Absolutely! I will probably bore the heck out of everyone with pics—but think of it as saving a baby chick’s life. This way I won’t be tempted to mother anything to death LOL.

C is out!! Its beak is slightly askew, but not too bad. Its feathers are hard/crusty feeling, humidity must’ve dropped once it started hatching? I put antibiotic cream on its umbilical area, but it looked great. It is a cutie!

Oh my gosh!!!!! Baby emu!!!!! Finally!!!

Baby B hatched overnight. Umbilical looks great. I’m going to drill a safety hole for A and D today. I suspect A never started to develop.C’s beak has aligned properly now. B’s is doing the same thing, so maybe it’s just a ‘freshly chewed my way out of a thick egg‘ thing? Anyway, so far so good!
