Hes so pretty.

Can we get more information? Is the vet an Avian vet or just winging it? What did they have to say?
I couldn't tell ya. I would assume he isn't an avian specialist, rather a general livestock type of doc. However, when we were leaving the clinic we saw a flock of chickens not a quarter of a mile on our way back home. So I would imagine that he knows what he is doing to some degree.....

We went ahead and let him roost. He only jumped up to the first roost, rather than the third (where he usually sits). Just checked on him and he seems ok; he's got his head under his wing but I've seen him do this before. We're going to start giving him the medicine provided tomorrow. Praying we wake up to good news from the coop.

Just make sure you’re not feeding him layer feed. The extra calcium can cause damage to internal organs in a rooster
We were, but we have since thrown out our layer and started to give everyone all flock, with egg shells on the side.

Think that is what caused the fatty liver in the bird we just lost.
