I have a pair of Crested Rouens that I bought as a mated pair (before I knew not to breed cresteds) and a Magpie Drake and a Buff Orpington hen. The Magpie is the dominant drake and has mated with both hens, but he terrorizes the Rouen hen. I picked her up and saw that most of her longer wing feathers have been broken off leaving bloody stumps. I separated the Rouens and I'm placing them in another home. In the meantime, can I do anything about her wings? Poor thing has lost weight although she's eating good now that their separate.
Why is he so aggressive mating her but not the Buff hen? I have a lot to learn still!
