Runner can't lay egg or is a rubber egg!

Just to show you can pick up a Runner with out scaring them to death. This was the first time I actually picked up my silver Runner Pearl she had bumble foot and had to be treated this past summer she survived and was such a good girl. Did she want to be picked up and held Nope but once I did she settled down.

Same with mine I have 2 blk and a blue getting white speckled now they were two this past April. That’s good to hear she acts fine other than the egg laying hopefully the Extda calcium will help with that. I’d love to see a pic of Phyllis Diller and CarolAnn. I love Runners.

It’s def a hoot I know Funniest home videos would love some of us all, chasing our birds down . These Runners are flighty lil things but so sweet and endearing and so funny.

Yes, she is eating layer food it's just oyster, egg shells she snubs! LOL I just wonder if the layer food is good enough since it is for chickens?

I rarely see my ducks or chickens eating the oyster shell but they are because I have to replace it. She may just need more calcium some just do and that usually fixes the problem. As far as the feed many use layer for their flocks of egg layers. Most of us rec going with an all flock feed if we have drakes roosters or gander in the mix and using oyster shell on the side.

I can give it a try. They seem to not like gooey food of any kind but I'm desperate at this point! LOL

The need for Vit D depends upon the ratio of calcium to phosphorous. The need for Vit D is increased in ducks by the lack of calcium or phosphorus by the improper ratios of these minerals in their diet. Good old sunshine is the best way for them to get their Vit D. If kepted inside or under cloudy conditions, they may not get enough sun to get the required amount. Alot of layer feeds don't contain the required levels for a optimum nutritional diet. Mazuri feed does have the recommended levels in their feed.
Recommended dosage is 200 IU/kg
You can get regular human consumption Vit D3 at Walmart, Walgreens, GNC, etc. Both forms capsulated pills or gel form can be given orally. If using capsulated form, it can be crushed up and added to the feed as well but there's a chance it won't all get eaten for optimum effect.

I just bought calcium citrate and it is in pill form @ 315mg each half. How doI know how much to give? A very small pinch?
