We will be holding a virtual photo contest soon. Start getting your cameras charged and snapping pictures of you Orloff. The winning photo will be used to make an illustration for our Orloff Club of North America/Russian Orloffs USA and Canada logo. Entry details will be posted Sunday January 19th.

We have been working on an interactive map to track the Orloff Population. Mousing over a marker will give a brief description of that marker. Blue markers are breeders/owners, yellow markers are hatcheries, Burgundy marker bantam Orloff. This map can be zoomed in/out. Only members can add markers. If you are a member of the Orloff Club of North America, I have e-mailed you the key. If you are a member of Russian Orloffs USA and Canada, a key has been posted on the pinned post.

We will be having a virtual photo contest to pick a winning photo to use as an illustrated Logo for our Orloff Club of North America/Russian Orloffs USA and Canada. Take advantage of this time to get your Orloffs in photogenic condition and looking their best.

Participation is limited to members only from USA and Canada. All entries must be of single cockerel/cock or pullet/hen per photo. Photos of chicks will not be accepted. There is no prize associated with this contest, but bear in mind that the winning photo will be used as an illustration for the Russian Orloff Logo. There will only be one photo selected as the winner. Please post clear photos. Entries may be posted on The Orloff Club of North America forum or Russian Orloffs USA and Canada group page.

For members posting photos on the Orloff Club of North America forum, please post them under the Virtual Photo Contest thread in the General Board.

Contest will end February 28, 2014. The winning photo will be announced March 5, 2014

Did you know BYC runs photo contests for each breed too? I was the only submitted Orloffs last time so of course they won. Maybe this time there will be some nice competition.

For any one concerned about how cold hardy the Orloff is, last night it was -28 here in Vermont. One of my 4 month old pullets must have jumped the fence yesterday. I opened the coop door this morning & she was sitting by the fence waiting to come back in. Spent the whole night out alone and is doing fine. My property is all open, no trees, just a few parked cars belonging to a friend. She may have spent the night under one of them, but point being is they are indeed cold hardy.

You betcha! The 3 pullets are giving me about 2 eggs a day, for 3 days this week I've gotten an egg from everyone. I have really started thinking about just keeping more RO's for layers- they are so cold hardy and perfect for our winters...I just have to get to the eggs before they freeze! These girls are averaging about the same as production layers but without the big combs/wattles of buff orps, white leghorns and rhode island reds
