Safety Hole? Concerns

There’s a chance a duckling can turn and cover up its pip and safety hole and suffocate. I don’t think it’s super likely but it can happen

Ok video update. Tried to peek through the hole for this one. Sorry for the TikTok watermark, I needed to edit the video so I could cut out where it didn’t focus 😂 We are at hour 40 now with no additional external pip

I think it would be safe to start a partial assist as long as you don’t make the aircell hole so big that the baby can get out. What do you think @KathiQuacks ?

I agree with this! If you do, I’d chip off a bit closer to where baby’s bill is. Don’t forget to moisten the membrane.
Usually babies pip again to get more air, but I’m guessing baby has enough air as is and is just hanging out until they’re done absorbing 😂

Ok here is where we are. He stuck his bill straight out when I uncovered it. Should I remove more or let him go?

The nice thing is that now that it’s a bit more open, you can watch the veins recede. When you moisten the membrane you should see the veins get thinner and thinner. I take a picture each time so I can see the progress
