Brilliant, so this is what pretty much everything (lol, jk) I've been doing the past two years has come down to - probably should've taken my extended essay more seriously at the time, instead of as just a fantastic excuse to take the train to distant locations in the city. :p

I did the IB Diploma and ended up getting four 7s and two 6s. I was very pleased with this. (7 is the highest grade.)

...I was not very pleased with my acquisition of only one bonus point (out of three), but as I said before I probably bought it on myself by not doing any research for my TOK presentation or essay. Like I said, one never takes it seriously enough at the time.

Overall score: 41/45. Not bad. Equates to Atar 99.1 in my state, which should get me a mention in next year's Year 12 Results booklet at my school.... ex-school.... :yesss:

Thanks sourland.
University offers start in a week or so, and if I'm successful I start in March. I'm also applying for a scholarship, if I don't get that I am going to have to start trying harder to find a job. (My quest for a job has so far been a dismal failure, I have been looking since the end of exams.)

Thank you!

Well, we've all received the letter summing up the results of everyone at my school. At least eight people got higher scores than me (four in IB), and my parents are annoyed with me for being such a slacker.

I'm kind of annoyed about it too, because the scholarship I'm applying for depends only on grades. This means there's a higher chance of someone else getting it if they're going to do one of the courses it covers.

And then I'm going to have to work... A lot... Because I have no money...

Alas, just waiting for my youth allowance assessment to come through. Government handouts for the win! Even if it's just $150 a fortnight, that should cover half the rent when I finally end up moving out.

Best of luck to you! With those scores, I'm sure you'll do fine. I was so excited going from high school to college, though I also remember being nervous after applying (it's a bit different in the states). I only applied to one school that I fell in love with and got in. I loved my four years there.

Keep us updated!

Thanks. :D I'm not particularly worried about getting an offer, my father teaches at the university and says the average Atar for acceptance to my course is 83. I'm a little concerned, however, about whether this is really the correct choice. There are a lot of better things I could do now I've gotten this score. (Better as in pay, better as in job security and flexibility, better as in they sound cooler when people ask you what you do for a living :p)
I chose this course because I was interested in the subject and because I've always wanted to, excuse the absurdity, work in a factory...

Anyway, it's too late to change preferences now, the offers start next Monday. Suppose this is what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life now. :p
History of weird ambitions:
- In year 7 I wanted to be an olympic athlete
- In year 9 I wanted to be an airline pilot
- In year 10 I wanted to be a stockbroker
- In year 11 I wanted to be an explosives expert
- In year 12 I wanted to be a politician

Won't end up doing any of those things because:
- I end up almost collapsing after jogging 500m down the road in an attempt to get to the bus stop before the bus leaves :p
- I'm broke.
- I fail at trading stocks: my friend, who I introduced to the game and the hobby, has pretty much doubled my gains and she joined half a year later
- Both I and my parents want me to get a job I actually need a university degree for
- I have the conversational skills of a rock. I am an avid watcher of SBS world news and I read a lot of things people stare at you weirdly for mentioning in everyday conversation, but when actually asked about anything I support and why, I end up giggling hysterically and saying something that makes me sound like a language learner :p

(Although in my latest attempt at a movie, which I wrote mainly as a method to consolidate my knowledge of 20th century history as opposed to to try to actually entertain anybody, I am being very impressed by the speeches I apparently wrote each time the soviet union got itself a new leader. They are very inspiring speeches. :p)

My parents say when I was a kid all our friends (I was friends with their kids) would say I was like this creepily smart person who would go on to do something brilliant in later life. Well, I hope nobody cast any bets on that :old
What's happened to all my friends from England?
- One has received an offer to study medicine at Cambridge
- One has received an offer to study PPE at Oxford
- One ranked in the top 5 at the British maths olympiad (I think it was)
- One is at Eton... haven't caught up with him for ages, dunno what kind of offers he's received

And oh yes, here is Fierlin, going to study chemical engineering at Where was it again?
So very brilliant. :lau

For crying out loud, it wasn't Monday. It was Thursday. Offers come out on Thursday, and I will be on a plane somewhere above China.

Seems everything is happening next Thursday or Friday, probably just to spite me :p (Just joking)

Yay, the express offer service is up just before I get on the plane. Checked with airport wifi and I've got my place in chem eng. :woot
