here's one for ya.

Dishwasher soap is easy to make, and cost effective. mix up a batch in an empty canister, and pour it in the dishwasher as needed.

Mix and use per dishwasher load:
1 Tablespoon Borax
1 Tablespoon Baking soda

OR

Mix equal parts Borax and Baking Soda, and add 2 Tablespoons per load. Increase proportion of soda for hard water. Use vinegar in the rinse cycle.

i just bought a bunch of bars of fels naptha and gave the recipe to two ladies in the grocery.

the one woman was almost in tears, husband ill w/cancer and so he and she both lost jobs! she said that i blessed her and saved her a ton of money.

so, really, kudos to all of you, because of your sharing, i was able to help someone we don't even know.

when we bless others, God blesses us ten fold and even more sometimes. so, God bless all of you!!!

Listen, I couldn't find fels naptha (will keep looking). I found the Zote though.

Can I use the Zote in place of fels naptha? I'm going to give it a try. I'll keep you posted -- because I KNOW you're on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens!

I have been using the powder detergent for over a week now and really like it. To add some fragerance (spelling) I found a color safe bleach with citrus scent. It all comes together real nice and the clothes smell great!!

Can I use the Zote in place of fels naptha?

apparently, according to other posters, yes, any cold pressed laundry soap will do it.

also, another great way to whiten laundry is to use bluing. it also keeps jeans from fading.

it saves wear and tear on clothing, and takes the yellow out of hard water wash.

the only brand i have ever seen is Mrs. Stewart's Bluing...it's super cheap and a bottle will last you years.

Thanks, Miss_Jayne. I'm doing my first load with it now!

I know the directions say to let it sit 24 hours, but when I was a little girl I used to dig up newly planted seeds to see if they were growing yet.

I suppose I never outgrew the impulse, although I do manage to leave seeds alone now.
