I have australorp and welsummer and I like the austrolop better...started with battery hens which were Rhode Island reds and found to many nasty ones...I would try and keep the austrolop

I was going to keep her as they are meant to be such good layers but sadly we found her dead a month back of no obvious causes.

I'm so pleased you are all getting better hatches than my hopeless 1 chick hatch!

My big round flowery girl is out!! Just returned from work, and it looks like she just hatched, shes definitely the biggest chick so far! Thanks again Igors
One of her brothers also came out while I was gone, and another flowery is midzip
.... I should probably put my head down, and do that thing where your eyes close, but what if I miss something !! Lol....

@PouleChick I only managed 1 chick from my first hatch. Well 2 but one died about a week later. Don't feel bad, you can always try again

Well I have a now temp brooder set up for them but gotta go get something bigger to use. I was so used to could put my hatch in a little dishpan with the other incubator, but here is a picture of the 14 fluff balls that are out, 3 eggs remaining and we are on day 21

might need several pots of coffee, they make lots more noise than 1 or 2 chicks and I forgot even how noisy 1 or 2 can be lol

5 are out! Ones a silver color and the rest are black. No naked necks yet. None of the marans have popped yet.
