September Hatch-A-Long!

Thank you for that. It seems a little better on its legs so I will give it till morning with that. It seems quite stressed and isn't settling so I have put it with the others to see if that helps.
I'm hoping I'm just being over protective because it's the youngest. Lol

It's very pretty I hope it makes it!

So my little Pip is doing much better today! Thank you all for the advice and Chirp, that vitamin E tip is amazing! By 4am he was very alert and perky! He is starting to stand and balance in his own now! I love you guys for all the support and help!

very upset I have to cull one of my babies it is crippled and I have tried to straighten the toes and then the leg went crippled and I braced the leg and the toes and then it just falls over and the others are picking so I think they know. I just can't bring myself to do it but I know it is suffering. My question is what methods has everybody used to cull a chick that seems painless? I would prefer it goes to sleep instead of chopping its head off if you get my drift. TIA for suggestions as to what works best for everybody
I am weak. I do the best I can to fix, I have successes as well, but for the ones that don't get better, I am going to build a seperate pen. So far they have not had any problems getting along. Some haven't made it. I have 4 that are special needs.

B 6 niacin is supposed to help with leg problems.

OMgoodness!!!! :weee First chance I had to check in on you!!!! I have learned to do the Vit E first..... tape/support feet/legs if needed.....and keep fingers crossed.

I'm thinking that it has to do with hens in the heat getting stressed and depleted in vitamins/minerals...Now I add it to their (hen's) feed if I'm going to incubate....sometimes Vit B is needed (in the chicks) based on other neuro symptoms....

So very glad for you....it's an easy go to remedy until you can figure out what else can/needs to be done. No matter if it's day's out...give the Vit E a shot....:highfive: Chirp

I'm so glad he is doing so much better! He is a bantam splash cochin that may be frizzle or will carry the gene, and my first chick from my first hatch, so he is going to be so spoiled, not that they all aren't lol.
