September Hatch-A-Long!

my kids are soo eggcited (hehe) they found a chicken egg laying hatching episode of the magic school bus....that they are currently watching.
its actually very cool lol
it shows the whole process of how an egg is made in the hen how its fertilised and how it becomes a chick...

My last August batch is hatching but a confused Serama, not due to hatch until Monday, has pipped.
shipped?

My babies for this week equal 6...2 from my girls a mottled Japanese Bantam, 1 black silkie, 2 lavender frizzle silkies! so precious....
you in the sept hatch?? mine are due starting sept. 11

I somehow got messed up and set the eggs yesterday. But I took them out when I realized I was wrong. Then I put them back in today.

400

21 days to go!!!

OK, finally moving over here from August :)

Lets see... I have had multiple disaster hatches with all my shipped eggs but good hatches with my personal eggs (well, my own chickens anyway, LOL!) I have been doing staggered hatches using a Farm Innovators Pro 4200 with auto turner and fan for a bator and an LG still air for a hatcher. I have had heartbreak after heartbreak and although seemingly stable temps for the most part I think it may be running low in spite of my best efforts and numerous thermometers and hygrometers. I have ordered Incu-kits to upgrade my bators to the equivalent of a HovaBator Genesis 1588, and also ordered the cords to use battery backups and 12 volt turner motor. I am GOING to get this worked out and stop killing all the rare breed babies I am working so hard to acquire.

Meanwhile in the bator I have a selection of BBS Ameraucana, Partridge Penedesenca, SBEL, Olive Eggers and a Crested Cream Legbar that are on Day 16 in my unreliable bator and almost ready to go into my unreliable hatcher :/ At least none of them were shipped so :fl

Also in the bator on Day 5 are more local eggs including Mille Fleur Leghorns, more Crested Cream Legbars from 2 other flocks, Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, Barthuhners, Swedish Flower Hens, Lavender/Blue Orpingtons, and Blue Isbars.

Shipping to me Monday I have a replacement order of Sweet Potato Quechua and Colloncas eggs and 6 Bielefelders.

And hopefully my local source will soon have some Blue Breda eggs for me since I lost all 18 of the shipped eggs due to malposition :(
