hey guys- our roo gets a ball in bis neck when he is wearing his no-crow collar. Obviously best to leave the collar of, but thats no option in a residential area. So, hoping there are any experiences? The lump is filled with slime/vomit like substance. See pics for lump. Thanks

One time I tried the no-crow collar, and that would happen all the time. The collar makes it hard for the rooster to swallow food, that's why I stopped using it. Feeding only crumbles is supposed to help, but it didn't really help for me.

Of course it's an option.
Send the bird to live where he can swallow...and crow......instead of choking him.
His feed isn't making it down into the crop because the collar is blocking his esophagus, take the collar off.

Arrt,

That was a little rude.
Each person keeps chickens in a diffrent way,Some pets, some food. What if her little rooster is a family pet?

I really don't know how to help, I am so sorry!

Aart- thanks for stating the obvious, but around here it is not an option no, read carefully I'd suggest.

'Send' the bird isnt as easy as it may sound with a roo, especially if you care where he ends up.

We're looking into a few sanctuaries and also exploring decrowing.

Thanks all.

Yep, sorry, I was sharp....this to me is animal cruelty and deserves sharp.
If you're not allowed a crower in your neighborhood, don't keep one.
Would be better to slaughter and eat him than slowly choke him to death.
Rant over, I'm out.
