Set eggs today3/11 Due 4/1 for Easter! 1st ever hatch! Please join me!

Chkinut- where are you in NC? I am down that way once in awhile. Next trip is April 13th, Raleigh, and I didn't think this one through because these chicks will be less than 2 weeks old.
How are your showgirls coming along? Are you new to incubating, like us?

that's exactly what most of my eggs look like....except mine have some blood veins in them and mine JUST officially got into day 6 tonight at 7pm. it's so exciting!

Great!

Margo- there is no such thing as an extra PI/Lavender roo!

watching he egg auction, they are too funny over there. A very nice group, all with a good sense of humor. I may go to chickenstock just to meet them. I have plans to go to Norfolk that weekend that I would love to get out of....

I AM going to the Poultry show this Sunday in BelAir, MD. The Susquehanna show. I'll get to see April's porcelains and meet some people there.

Hi Crazyperson... ok ... how did you come up with that Screen name?!... We're just north of Pittsburgh. I guess we're about an hour and a half from you...
I was wondering what to do with the extra roos also!!! Please, someone give us some ideas!

Crazyperson, I received 9 of upintheholler's sizzle/frizzle splash silkie eggs! Wanna trade a chick or two? depending on the hatch? I sure didn't want 9! I ordered 6 and was hoping for a 50% hatch. Hey, who knows... this is my first hatch, maybe I won't get any!!!!

Hi guys,

I set 30 silkie's March 12'th. My first hatch was Bantees. I did fairly good considering how cold it was when I got the eggs. I think about 65% hatch. I also had Blue cochins that hatched a week later. 100% hatch. I love them with their feathered feet. I just hatched some turkeys.. not as good.. 3 out of 8

. Now hatching are Silver laced wynadotes. They are hatching pretty well so far. I staggered all of these hatches and it was a little hard. I don't think I will stagger that much again. Too hard to get the humidity right.

Anyway, Of course I bought a new hovabotar 1588 to hatch the silkies in since my other Hovabator 1602 was occupied. I think I've goin' crazy with hatchin all these chicks.. but I love it.

Hope everyone hatches well.

Hi RockinRobin,

My DH is always calling me crazy, because no matter what I'm into at the current time, I always get just a LITTLE bit carried away. I think they call that OCDC.

Great! sounds like fun... now we better not count our chicks before they're hatched!
A sizzle is a frizzle with silkie feathering! Click on this link to see pix of the sizzle/frizzles I ordered or copy it to your browser. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=286470 btw -- I'm a little crazy, too! We just picked up 3 more foster puppies,
German shepherd mixes, which we will foster for a couple weeks and try to find homes. (for the Humane Society). We just finished fostering 3
kittens last week! and 17 eggs in the bator... yep, definitely crazy!

You sound as if you're doing a great job and those turkeys were acting like turkeys.

What a great mix of chicks you will have.
Let's talk about the "new" 2nd bator with the 30 silkie eggs? Shipped?

I would have 20 different breeds if I had the room. I had to pick 1 breed and use pens to keep colors separate.

OK Today is day 7 and I am officially allowed to candle

Of the 15 eggs, 3 are questionable but will stay put for a few more days.

2 could be clear and now have "?" on them but 1 is marked with a "B" for bad or bloodring. I attached a photo. I see the little dot but I also see a dreaded bloodring around it.
It's not moving.

The other 12 eggs are definitely developing and are at various stages. Veining or eyes visable in all. So, again, some are developing faster in the bator than others or just differently.

12 more chicks!
