I would wait 24 hrs or longer before you set shipped eggs. I have eggs coming tomorrow and will be setting Sunday evening.

Going to the post office to pick them up. After reading I thought I would let them settle 12 hrs at room temp then into the bator still sitting big end up for a few days then start turning. I am a nervous wreck.

I am so glad Texasmja is here to keep track of us :D I'm in and out of the house so much lately that I end up barely glancing at my laptop sometimes ;)

Welcome to everyone! We have a great bunch of hatchers and hatchees so far ^..^ So many cool breeds! Good hatching vibes to all of you

Also, Texasmja, as far as hatching the Serama, the best bet is to handle the eggs very gently and as little as possible. They like lower humidity, but I have hatched with "normal" humidity ranges and done fine. If you have any *super* tiny eggs, keep an eye on them...the very very small ones sometimes need help, but not always. If you think they're in there peeping frantically for too long once they internally pip, don't be afraid to at least open the top of the egg shell for them. I lost two in my first Serama hatch because I did not act after they had been peeping for about 24 hours...both perfect, fully formed babies who had absorbed the yolk. Sometimes they are not able to turn to pip. BUT most of them will do just fine! Treat them pretty much the same as any other hatching egg.

My eggs are settling and I tried to candle. I dont really know how. So I am using a little strong light and a completely dark room. i tried 3 eggs but it just glows and I can see the pores on the shell. Eggs were beautifully wrapped and double boxed. I don't think I would be able to see an air sac if it was starring me in the face.

If they are super fresh, you may not see .. they start being more obvious once the egg is a few days old. If you cannot see air bubbles floating through the eggs or an obvious large, floating air bubble (think like if you tip a jar full of water), then you are in great shape. :D Sounds like you have a fantastic start to your hatch!

Thanks for making me feel better. I have 15 eggs going in about midnight tonight. What should the starting humidity be? It is currently 53%.
