I tell ya, Roxanne, the one thing I keep being tempted to do is pick up a dozen fertile store eggs and set them, just to see if they'll hatch! I really don't have the room, though, fun as it would be...

By the way when your Roo in the avatar was 20 weeks old was he cock a doodle dooing yet.?I have a "Hen" who i notice today ... has a way bigger comb than the other hen.NOt the waddle? is it?It hasnt crowed but wondered do the hens get a big comb on Barred Rocks?.

I have buffs too, but they look so much like the pics of the lemons wasn't sure if there was a more defining difference, but I guess it could be the pics do not do the bird justice

I have never seen one i n person but they look really light yellow gold in the photos I have seen.
I want to get a Lemon Cuckoo Orp.They are so pretty that gold yellow but barred.

Oh ok...also just now i think this one sort of squatted like waiting for the roo to come.?..when my grand daughter started to pet it .Would a roo do that? they all have been doing that the last week but only 2 have layed eggs that i know of.But who knows seems i get an egg every day LL from my Buff orps I guess I have 3. .Maybe another is laying too .All of mine every breed are brown egg layers.

Will see if all11 hatch but its the best i have ever y had so far on night before lock.....I F....they hatch...

From this angle it looks like a hen. Do you have a side shot? The color is also what you would see on a hen. Are the front of the legs washed in black?

Looks like a hen to me too. My roo has a completly different tail than any of my hens.

Hen - looks just like mine. My two barred rocks both have large combs. Check my avatar - that was Mama at 20 wks.
