Setting the week of August 22 (or so... ) Everyone join!! You know you want to!

Ok. I have one last egg in this set left to hatch. It pipped over 24 hours ago, I still see a little movement in that hole it made, but no progress has been made AT ALL! its at the end of day 22. Any advice?

If it were me I'd help it even though they say not to. Just chip away a little at a time with the shell. If you run into any blood or yoke stop and put it back in the bator. The chick will be weaker and may die but in nature the chicks all need to hatch with the others in order to live. I just helped one out that had a dry wing hanging out of the shell. After a few hours I couldn't pick it out of the crowd.

Got up this morning to four very cute quail chicks playing soccer in the bator. They ate now at home with there mama, sadly I was just the incubator for theses guys also for the batch of chicken eggs that go into lock down next week but I do have a few of my own I just put in on the tenth plus I'm looking to order some more. Any one else hatching more

I've got BABIES!! 8 out of 8 hatched!! black copper marans!! Mama Red takes such good care of them! it was pretty cold this morning but Mama took the hatched chickies to eat and was teaching them how at the same time as keeping them warm under her wing! Pics below!

Look of love!

Peeking out from mama's wing!

I have the most docile amazing Production red mama "Mama Red"... This is my first time doing the natural hatching thing and I LOVE it!! I did end up putting a himidifier in the brooder area last night because the humidity outside was around 40% and I had to physically help a chick escape a shrink wrapped membrane. The humidifier worked like a charm and all other babies were hatched under 10 hours from the first one!! Good luck everyone!!
your chick looks just like mine!! are they silver laced?

one thing I hadn't counted on - this chick is LOUD! and the incubator is in my bedroom -guess its earplugs for me and DH tonight LOL

Congrats everyone on all your babies, on this end I went and did it again. Found a guy on cl. With jumbo brown quailand A&M quail. My friend bought two dozen eggs and two dozen chicks, I bought the same plus two of each adults lol I'm in for it now. Lucky I purchased a auto Turner and it should be here sometime next week

Hahaha I just bought 59 quail eggs off of eBay. Looking for them to be delivered the middle of next week. One really bad thing though is I am going to have to hand turn them, since I can't afford a turner right now... Luckily with quail I only have to turn them for 15 days... So let's see, if 40 of them make it to lockdown, and I weed out the duds or the ones damaged in shipping at 7 days, I will have turned them 2070 times. Ouch!!

I have babies! This was my first time seeing a chick hatch and what a sight it was!! I have 1 salmon faverolle that hatched yesterday around 9 am and then 3 more over the course of friday afternoon/night. So out of 12 are out and about with one that has a whole in the shell. Should I take out these 4 when they are dry? they are running around the incubator and are pretty dry but
I did not want to hurt the one that has broken through the shell by opening the bator. Is this a valid concern? Should I take chicks out as they dry and just be quick to avoid to much humidity and temperature change? Thanks everyone...pics to follow!

Leave it closed. It was hard to see the pipped eggs getting tossed around but it could shrink wrap anyone that has pipped if you open it.
