I have 4 button quail that are around 5-6 weeks old. When can you start telling the sex so i can separate them appropriately? I definitely don’t want the males to hurt or kill each other. Can they be sexed by color ? I know i have one white and one silver, but i’m not sure what the other two are . I attached pictures of them, took the best I could since they are still pretty flighty but finally starting to get more use to me. TIA!

The silver and the tan one may start to develop reddish feathers around the vent if it's a male. The white one and the pied aren't feather sexable. If you're lucky, you'll have two males and two females.

If you have enough space, they may not fight even if your ratios are off. In my experience, while they can get violent, they're not as bad as coturnix.
