It made the news again but it's not new, the warning was issued in april. The region affected, Ile de France, is 50 % rural. There are commercial operations, but not that many : in 2022 480 millions eggs produced (number from local newspaper Le Parisien) out of 14 billions produced in the country for the same year.
Organic eggs have been in major decrease since COVID + inflation, as organic food in general in France.
The major culprit is supposedly a huge waste disposal incinerator. But as has been the case in other countries, recent independent investigation, the Forever pollution project, released the data on PFAS present in rivers and soils and they are all over the place.
