I’m so sorry to read this!Wednesday afternoon, around 5pm, we had a fox attack. Two birds taken. Erica, a young Tsouloufati hen, and Lady Gaga, the serama rooster. I thought that there was a third one gone, but I just didn't count correctly
All the birds have been inside for the last couple of days, not sure how much longer I should be keeping them inside; they're not happy to say the least.
Both Lady Gaga and Erica will be missed, Lady Gaga especially by me and all his hens. He was a really good boy. His whole group will surely miss him. Erica will be missed the most by her best friend and sister, those two were always together. She was an easy going girl, and a really good flier.
A sort of tax if you will, my favourite photo of each bird. View attachment 3939327Lady Gaga, posing with his daughters in the back. The splash girl I still have. She's the Ocean, the one who is co-mothering Ubon. View attachment 3939328Erica, this was a photo taken on her first birthday. She always liked to forage under shrubs

Further to this https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...rescued-chickens-thread.1502267/post-27991978 and in particular this bitvery interesting; I'll give it a go and report back.
The little devils have been hatching while we've had days of downpours and weather I want to get out of as fast as possible, so I have just been squashing them with a thumb as and when seen. It's not going to eradicate them but another variety of holding operation until the hens stop laying (5 eggs again today) and I can jet wash the lot.As the eggs are widely scattered and often on the poop trays - which are made of a much thinner plastic - I think I'll just wait till they hatch, and then cremate or powder them.

Red Mite free in the coop today.Further to this https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...rescued-chickens-thread.1502267/post-27991978 and in particular this bit

I always figured it was from wild birdsRed Mite free in the coop today.A dry afternoon no less and I stripped the coop out and had a proper inspection. It's been a bad year for Red Mite here in the South West I am told. The mite arrived in one of the hot spells (for the UK
) and arrived in force. It makes me wonder how exactly the mite arrive. To have a few and that population explode makes sense but in my case and for a couple of others I've spoken to, this year the mite seemed to arrive in a horde, or whatever the correct name is for lots of mites.
