I stand corrected. I do know the story but did not remember the names.

I am actually hoping to try this season. I have contacted my breeder & am just waiting on the right broody & her checking for fertility. If Wrold sits for me I know she will do all the work & I won't really have to worry. The fun will begin when they start flying...Your Campines sound much like our ferals in size stature and behavior. Id imagine it would be insane and ungratifying trying to raise them lol
Presumably there isn't a test as to whether you are a good breeder. Or is there?I am running into difficulties with that. I am finding even rural townships have rooster restrictions & if I were going to keep a rooster I'd want something like a Phoenix. Who could resist those tails? If I get enough land, say 1/2 to an acre, I could run two small tribes. I have grown very fond of my Japs & D'Uccles. At my age I probably couldn't manage more land than that. Where I am now considering, I can have a rooster if I'm a breeder, not something I've ever seriously considered. Too much science & I am so good @ science...![]()
A common ploy to avoid tax payment I'm sorry to say.
Yes, you still have to pay tax. Hens will do at a push.![]()
Okay, four 6 month old Black Australorp hens for the price of one rooster. My tax. Great hens, they all lay every day.A common ploy to avoid tax payment I'm sorry to say.

I have no idea, RC. I haven't really looked into it yet. In a rural area a closed flock would be optimal & I would assume there are commercial breeders. I am looking round the Burnett area which farms a wide variety of different things. My mother grew up in this area so knows it well & was quite excited when I mentioned the township I am interested in. It's no closer to her time wise but is much closer geographically. I've always wanted a tiny bit of land. An acre would do me nicely...Presumably there isn't a test as to whether you are a good breeder. Or is there?
I sure hope you enter this shot into the calendar contest! It is so so beautiful!!!TAX FOR VEERING OFF TOPIC YET AGAIN...View attachment 3241959

I wish you the best of luck. These are just wildly incredible and I can see their amazing good looks would make you overlook and come to love "their antics" and yes, make you brave enough to breed themI am actually hoping to try this season.
