I never believed in this stuff until this happened to me:
When we moved into our old house in 2000, my daughter was 10. She had the upstairs bedroom; son and I had rooms downstairs. She was hysterical one night - hollering that there was an animal in her room. I went up, searched, and reassured her there was nothing. The animal - actually animalS - visited her often after that and she, being an animal lover, felt calmed by them and never said anything more to me. Until later.
Kids were at their dads. I went to bed one night and was just dozing off when I felt a cat walking across the top of my pillow, above my head. I've had cats before and I do now, but didn't when this happened. I layed real still til it walked all the way across. Once it got off the pillow, I sensed a medium-sized dog sitting on the floor looking at me. I didn't have a dog...
I wasn't scared, felt calm, but it freaked me out a little. In the morning I was telling my neighbor who had lived in her house since she was a child. She said the people who lived in my house did have a medium-sized dog who lived to an old age and passed away. They also had a cat...and this part is sad...when she was about 13 (she was in her eighties when this happened) the neighbors went on vacation and asked her family to watch their cat. Her father was an alcoholic; came home drunk one day and ran the cat over in the neighbor's driveway.
I told my daughter and she said "See Mom? I TOLD you!!!" She even had names for them.
About two years later my son started screaming one night as he slept that there was an animal in his room. We never told him about our encounters because he was young and it would have terrified him. So I did the same thing - searched his room, told him there was nothing there, and sent him back off to sleep.
But I knew they were there and that they were harmless. So now I do believe.
