My son has had problems with spirits at several times in his life and a couple have not been friendly at all. Each time it would happen I would pray and ask God to send one of his warrior angels to protect my son and keep anything evil out of my house and the problem would stop immediately.

We have been living in this house for three years now and when we first moved into the house I would smell cigarette smoke in the house from time to time. I don’t smoke but DH does; I have never allowed smoking in my house; if someone wants to smoke they can go outside. DH would swear up and down that he was not smoking in the house.

One evening when the girls were home from college they needed to run into town for a few things. I was in the bedroom on the computer when the doorbell rang. I went to the door and it was the UPS guy delivering DH’s Christmas gift; it was a fairly large box so he helped me put it in the house. As I closed the door a male voice from the back of the house calls out “Who was it?” thinking it was my son I called back “The UPS dude; he just dropped off Dad’s gift.” And I thought nothing more of it until an hour or so later the girls walked in the front door and my son was with them. I asked him what he was doing outside and he told me he had gone with his sisters to the store. I had been alone in the house all along.

There is a spirit in this house but he’s not bad and doesn’t bother anyone so I don’t have a problem with it.

I'm a firm believer in the Paranormal.
A long time ago (I was 9 or so 1970's) we had this Baby Sitter that played with the ouji board stirring up Spirits. Well my Blister (sister) and I were living in West Virgina with the Sitter along with a few foster kids. Mom in Calif. with a nervous break down?? Probably ghosts.
The house was Huge as I remember, It had a long curving stairway to the second floor as you walk in the front door, big formal dinning room, another stair case in the kitchen.
Well all us kids were sleeping on the floor in the living room on a Sat. night. something woke me in the middle of the night so I sat up and sort of rubbing my eyes to focus. As I looked thru the double door's into the Dinning room I seen a figure of a Navy man in Dress whites walking into the kitchen coming from a window with one of those bench seats. For the longest time growing up whenever I would think of that night or try to talk about it my eye's would tear up, Not crying just a freaked out tearing. Ever since that night I have been convinced!!!

Another time fairly recent (2003) in Nj around a camp fire I took a picture with a strange shape in it. I know what I see in the nose area of the shape. Yes I'm sure the smoke from the fire play's a role but it's still Spooky..

since then the Kids still live in the house. Our Daughter has heard the wood stove door open and close along with other sounds while she was the only one in the house.

I remembered another one I thought was neat. Halloween is always a big deal in our town and on Beggar's Night a lot of the merchants downtown and churches in the area participate in giving out treats or hosting different related events. A lot of people turn out for this and it's a big social event. Our church is close to the village and they usually participate. On this particular Beggar's Night, I was out with my kids and we were still out during the last few minutes of Beggar's Night...a lot of people were done. We got to our church and it was deserted. We thought that was odd, so my youngest, about 7 or 8 years old at the time, ran up the steps of the church to see if they were doing the treat thing inside, while the rest of us waited on the sidewalk. She said that when she reached the top step, she stood on her toes to look in the window of the door. The church was empty and dark, but, she clearly heard someone whisper "boo" close to her ear. She turned around, and no one was there. We know no one was there, cause we were watching her from the sidewalk. It didn't scare her particularly, she just thought it was really weird. And she's not prone to imaginary stuff, so I believed her when she told us. Our church is around 100 years old and has a lot of history, so it was perfectly believeable to me that it has ghosts. Recently, during a boring sermon, my eyes were starting to glaze over, and I saw a bird flying around the choir loft. Only, it wasn't really there. It certainly made me wake up and pay attention, though!

This is one where I have a few stories, but I'll just tell one. I'll try to keep it short...

I was 11, and we moved from city to small town. The house was not that old. I had this fear that if I didn't sleep with my back against the wall, I'd be stabbed. We went to sleep with door shut. I'd wake in the middle of the night, and the door would be open. I'd hear, and see a shadow of something walking up and down the hall. No matter how long I laid there and waited look, when I looked at the clock, it would read 3:09. WHen I woke in the morning, door would be closed again. I also would hear hangers rattling in the closet, footsteps and the back door opening ,and what sounded like furniture being dragged across the floor. ( I felt more normal when sister heard that sound too)

Years later, I knew of someone who had lived in that house sometime after me who said they never felt safe living there.

Though I've never had a ghostly experience myself, many of my friends and family have. Way too many people that I know, love, and trust to discount the presence of something otherworldly among us.

A few years back, a coworker took a trip to New Orleans (before Katrina) and was taking a nighttime tour. Their tour went past a famous hotel/restaurant that had once been a home to a woman who kept slaves and had a hidden room where she supposedly performed ghastly experiments on them and kept them chained. One night a fire broke out and I think some chained slaves died. Well, my friend took a photo of the building with her digital camera, and was about to hurry to catch up with the rest of the tour, but did a quick glance at the monitor to make sure she had gotten the shot. What she saw sent chills up her spine. The photo was perfectly in focus except for the lights from windows, street lamps, and cars. All of the lights were blurred in an upward fashion, resembling flames. It freaked her out and she hurried to catch up with the rest of the tour. When she got home and printed the photo, the same anomaly was present.
Kinda cool and creepy at the same time.

i just remembered something i never added to the thread i made.. i had forgotten it until i sat here reading over these stories and glanced to the cross that faces me while i sleep. heres what i said on the other.. "one night. i woke up to someone saying my name "Daniel". a voice unfamilar to me. and when i woke up. i couldn't talk. scream or anything. eventually i was able to sit up to where i felt a hand let go of my arm. " well.. one night at 3am i was woken up to a woman i didn't recognize saying my name, there was this HEAVY HEAVY pressure all over my body. i couldn't sit up.. I tried to scream to see if i could, i couldn't so i tried to talk... all it could do was make kind of a gurgling sound. much like in the movies when someones scared to death or choking and trying to talk.. So i just lay there and try to force myself up until i eventually sit up and feel someone let go of my arm.. Part i forgot

The following sunday i was invited to go to church with my grandfather and since i was new, they gave me a cross that a woman knits and they hand out to every new-comer.. I took it home and tied it to the top bunk of my bunk bed (and at the foot of my bed) and ever since i have never been bothered while sleeping... But occasionally while my dogs are on my bed they will stare off into the middle of my room and sometimes move their head back and forth like someone is pacing through the room..

My friend has always thought her house was haunted and she lives in a new home they had built. She's experienced the waking at 3am, the pressure and not being able to breath. The feeling of being watched and a ton of other things. Noises, too. Her son was home from the Navy a couple of weeks ago and I was taking some random snaps.
I took a picture of my friend sitting at the table with her son. The original pic of course has everyone in it. I enlarged it because something looked weird. You tell me.
