Sharing our 2022, Chick Orders🐄🐤

We started with two, a pullet, & cock. The female some how got her big head stuck between the bars in a cage we were using for introduction, & died. That left us with the cock.

We bought 9 keets, I sexed them early as 3 males, & 6 females. We lost all 3 males, due too big fat turkeys squished them. That left our main cock with 6 hens. We butchered a couple hens, so that left 4 left. 1 got eaten by a hawk, or some other Raptor, & 1 got obese, & died, leaving the cock with officially 2 girls now.
Similar situation here but our guineas are all cowards....absolutely 100% subordinate to the chickens. And the guineas were here first. I think we got the dumbest guineas in the history of guineas. Ordered 25, received 26. All thrived in the brooder but started squabbling at about 8 weeks due to cramped space, so we moved them to the coop (3x the SF). 6 killed themselves in the first 2 nights by breaking their own necks trying to roost. 4 others were killed in fights with their hatch mates. That left us with 16. Over the course of the next 3 months, all but 3 were killed by our LGDs and coyotes. One of the remaining three got caught by our LGD pup a week ago, but escaped with just a few missing feathers. The other two jerks have completely ostracized the survivor since the ordeal. Guineas are not only dumb, but are jerks.

Mine are just jerks.

This is why I'm kinda hoping the whole "new username" thing might actually be real and not an April Fools joke. But people already know me by this name, so I guess I'll have to order more guineas and hope they're less survival challenged. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

PM, me?

We're not getting anymore Guineas.

I'm brand new to all of this and I didn't realize you have to order chickens waaaay in advance. I have 6 pullets coming in September. The wait is gonna kill me! Lol

2 azure blues
2 barred Plymouth rocks
2 RIR

Because I couldn't just let one be an odd one out šŸ˜…

Fun! My barred rocks are soooo friendly and cuddly! Azures should lay beautiful eggs! Where did you order from?
