She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

We flipped the eggs so the pointy ends were facing in and it still didn't turn right. I made a chart for the teacher to hand turn a few times every day (an odd amount). She's probably going to come in a few times on the weekends to turn them, I feel bad about that.

I wonder if it is because of the size difference in the eggs. They're mostly medium to largish (1 is rather large, the carton didn't want to close with it in!) but the two that were turning were the smallest ones.

I watched videos of the little bator in operation . seems there is a design flaw . the little fin that separates the eggs dose not seem to be tall enough . question are they tall enough to take something and put it on them .it appears to me that the eggs touching each other is the problem . my first thought was a drinking straw split and placed on them would do it but I don't think it would be tall enough. but can't think of anything that might do it . but whatever it is it needs to separate the eggs so they do not touch one another . if the fin was tall enough to do that . It then would turn the eggs. am I wrong in my assumption ?

I think this is why the two smallest ones are turning

Sounds logical

I'm hoping its the partridge....lol By the way it looks we won't be taking our mini vaca now until the 17-20, so if the weather is good after that I'll be ready!!! Depending on how well the silkie hatch goes, I might turn around and do my nn & banty hatch after.

So would march 22nd be a good day to ship?

I had a mini that didnt turn all the eggs properly too. I marked them, as you did, and hand turned the eggs as much as possible. Turn them at least 4 times a day, but the more the better. Eggs can be turned once an hour. Turning keeps the embryo and yolk centered and gives the growing chick a new food source each time you turn. After long periods, the embryo has consumed all food near to it.

I've read it should be an odd number of times, so that the egg is not on the same side two nights in a row.

I think it is because the eggs are to big. I'm not super familiar with the turner for the mini but I know they make different size disc's for small/large eggs. You can always give brinsea a call and see what they say. Their customer service is pretty good.

I have news :weee

I candled all 36 quail eggs. 2 blood rings, 1 clear and 33 developing!!! OMG!!

One was quite oval and I couldn't see the air cell when I set it. Guess what? I set it upside down. But its developing, so I flipped it. Not sure what will happen with it, but looks like I better get to fixing my old bator as a hatcher real quick!
