Annoying, no way

I've not been posting as much just lately, here is so hard to keep up with, really. I pop over to the new members section for a while and the next thing you know a million new posts are on here!

No more chicks sold yet

Which means no incubator on right now. Having my withdrawal symptoms from it!! Have had to make a temporary run around brooding shed as they are out growing that now. Outside is a scary world for them. They are getting used to it now and enjoying some sun, when it's out.

Looks very nice!

That's great going on the chicks even though they were cheap. Although I would like to get these shifted on I'm really enjoying watching them grow. Have got some seriously weird crests on some of them!! I've not really kept the others long enough to see how they turn out. Have got some that hatched silver lace colour but as they have developed they look just more black and white not the usual lacing. Time will tell I suppose!!

Two of the Amber cross ones got the knock on the head yesterday. 3 of the 4 started crowing and lots of fights braking out so 2 had to go. Got some taking the last 2 which one is a hen I'm sure about 90%. They are both frizzle, they are going in a couple of weeks.

Little hen still doing ok with her chicks, they are all still alive and she hasn't trodden anyone to death so that's a plus.

I need your guess on my 3. They are almost all white, but have some black feathers randomly scattered. What's the deal with that?
Hard to see in this pic, I'll try to get a better one soon, but this is all I have right now.

RSLs are 18 weeks. We have 16 of them. Two EEs not laying yet. 4 Wyandotte that are a month behind the RSL so they will be a bit still I think.

I noticed blood spots in a couple eggs. Is this normal at the start? A lot of double yolkers too.
I get a lot of double yolkers in young hens, not so much after the first year. I get a few random blood spots, but not many. It's really nothing to be concerned about unless you get them frequently

I am so lost on sexing Polish. I will say that yesterday, when I was gathering up the chicks, at 3 months old the wattles were a good indicator. White crested polish hens will have wattles, too, but the males are much more pronouned. The crests fool me, but the wattles were a dead giveaway. I probably could have sold the pullets for more money, but at least selling at a group price I was able to move the cockerels as well. I needed that pen cleared out, because that's where I want to grow out my BCMs over the winter

Real question: SC why would they b doing that, double yolking, and how could we "fix" it. My uncle is like Proud of it, in his hens, he even says how he loves to eat em, he wont give away or sell a big egg cuz it might be one. i dont see where theyre extreamly unhealthy by glance, but i dont spend much time around those people. I disagree with a number of things he does with his chickens, ducks and rabbits. He has had alot of issues and he always attributes it to "nature..."

Rather than quote a bunch of stuff, I'll just list it here.
SC: who are the two kids running around screaming? That post made me laugh out loud quietly.
WV: your chickies look so cute!
Sherrif spotted some thangs. They were in symbols, but thangs nonetheless.

Double yolkers are natural, and happen more frequently in young hens. You would be surprised how many of my customers ask for them. I tell them "That's not how it works"

I dont lock my coops. The runs are locked up. If I have let the chicks out of the run into the yard, they usually head back in around 8-8:30. Except for Gemma, my turkey. I have a heck of a time getting her to go in! I usually have to snatch her off the top of the coop right at dusk. Do a head count, then lock the run. So its usually all right at dark.
So my coop is connected to the run and I can lock the run up. But they won't go into the coop if I leave it open. They just stay in the run. I'm having a hard time getting them to use the roosts too. Looks like I have some homework to do! :)
Well I'm waiving the white flag. I got to @amylynn2374 hatching her Pullet eggs lol
You got far! That was all the fun stuff...definitely check out the parade! Lol. It will get fun again when SC gets close to hatch time!
You know because she doesn't want a good hatch she'll have near 100% no matter what she does to them.....
Haha! So true!!
Oh please, that was nothing... Reminds me, though, whatever happened to Fowling Around and Munsterchicks? Our downhill is still much better than 54,000 pages of Yus XD Sarah!!!!! Yus
And CrazyChickenLady81 is gone too. Hasn't been on BYC is forever. Anyone know what happened to her?
Two kids are running around and screaming because it's boring at home
I must have missed this. I was thinking how does SC know whats going on in my house. I know I didn't talk about how bored my kids are and how they are driving me crazy!....then I saw....
I will be going to Jacksonville Fl tomorrow for one night!!! Its a girls getaway weekend. I am looking forward to this. LoL!!! Maybe then my 2 kids wont be running around scream because its so boring!! I can not wait for school to start in 3 weeks and 3 days!!!! LoL!!! Then I will just have a 3 year old to chase around. :barnie
I'm in the same boat!! Kids home all day, always bored even though they have a million more things to keep them busy then I had when I was a kid!! I still have 6 weeks to go! You're a lot closer to school starting then me! Have fun on your trip!
Our chickens started laying this last week or so and we got 8 eggs in two days. Here we go!
Awesome! I can't wait until mine are old enough.

I love the awkward teenager phase!

Sheriff would be one of the screaming kids. Dan would be the other. I like them both, but the sheriff thing is a bit much. No one has said anything downright disrespectful, and if 20 or 30 adults can't talk to each other without using Disney words, then a lot of my material will be taken away
