She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

It's a five-headed monster!
I've lost it you bought the chicks after the shipped eggs didn't hatch right or did they I missed so much either way that's a good hen :thumbsup
Yep, I bought feedstore Ameraucanas (EEs) for her, since she waited over 3 weeks for eggs and then sat on them for 24 days... Besides, ' twas one more errand to do to keep my 12 - year-old away from the house while her surprise party was being prepared ;-)

Hi all! I have been reading this thread for weeks, following along (sure is hard to keep up haha). I have just finished my first hatch and just wanted to say thankyou all so much for the information you share, it has helped me so much along the way. This forum is just amazing and I am glad to now be apart of it. :D

I understand why Amy doesn't like him, and I don't think it should be talked about much in here, but that whole saga fascinates me, and I'm glad he started a thread. I find it extremely interesting, and I can totally be myself and he responds to it. Don't blame the Brinsea for that failure

I'm not blaming the brinsea - considering what he is trying to do and what he started from, the real reason for his bad hatch survival rates had me laughing for about 3 hours.

I've been following both his threads since his first hatch attempt. The real surprise is the number that have survived.

Why family friendly it is not like kids go on this website but it is good that you were tinking like that

We have at least 3 kids on this website, and many of the people in the games and jokes section are in primary school.

Just read 15 pages! Pretty nutso. Well my ameraucana eggs arrived this morning. The only good thing going for them is that there are no cracks in the shells. Most of them have a lot of poop, all the air cells are detached except for one and that one is located in the pointy end. Most of the air cells look like day 7-14 incubation. Several of them are porous. I sent the woman an email and pointed all these things out and have had no response. I will be leaving feedback in 7 days after I check the fertility. I am not a happy camper to say the least. she had 100% positive feedback, which is why I ordered from her. :he
I maybe requesting my money back. Wishing I had got a response earlier from a lady out of Tennessee who has hatching eggs. These ones are supposed to Lavender. May just need to hold out until next spring for scflock.

Looks like they weren't packed properly either. I have had 4 lots of shipped eggs, and none have been anywhere near that bad.

I can honestly say that I would not be happy with those either.
E bay sellers and ebay themselves.  The beginning of the month I ordered one of the workbooks I wanted for my son for school this year. I always look at the rate and won't deal with anyone below 99% if it's something I really want or need and can't find alternatives I might go with 98.8% positive.  I usually have awesome experiences. I've been using ebay for over 7 years now. Well, I learned my lesson in not going to look at the negative feedback as well, (I do every once in a while but not as a general rule....now I do.)  I only do the BUY IT NOWS so I pay at purchase.  A couple days after I purchased I recieve a ebay notification saying the seller cancelled my order.  So I went to check it out. Reason being they were out of stock or couldn't fill the order for another reason. OK- but the listing is still up to purchase from. So I go and actually look at the negative feedback and  there was something like 90 something negative feedback for the last month alone and most of them were complaining about the seller cancelling the order and the item still being listed as available. (Now, it's my bad that I didn't take the time to look at the negative feedback as well as the positive rating, I wasn't happy with myself.) BUT why is this person still being allowed to sell on ebay? And on top of that, it will not let me leave feedback. (I don't understand how others could after they were cancelled, but I am unable, but it wouldn't give me the option to leave feedback.)

Here's the kicker, I started looking at the negative feedback on some like items and found the same thing. One seller had nearly 200 negative feedback for the last 30 days.  They might have had 3000 positive feedbacks for that time, but if you have 200 negative reports and many saying the same thing, there's a problem.  I understand as a buyer, I should be looking at the feedback better, and I am now, but that is ridiculous.  Especially considering not all of us apparently are able to leave feedback.

To leave that feedback you need to do it almost straight away. eBay is buyer beware - you can buy from someone with 100% negative feedback, but it's not a smart idea

Dam I meant this forum. There are a lot of kids across the whole BYC site( officially anyone under 18 is a kid)

K is the first letter of my name this morning when I got up and it was raining I decided that I was going to do something very rare for me .do as little as possible instead of as much as I can . a day just for me to do something I like doing . I like not doing nothing for a while it went very well still took care of my chickens and horses no work calls at all but the sky didn't fall. had to cook dinner though. and now it's over back to work tomorrow and maybe the weekend as well but today was great. I've spent the biggest part of it glued to this laptop. the other  K will be here tomorrow by or before noon. surly you guys know what that is .

I love taking a day to myself. Wish I could do it more often haha. Glad you had a great day, and nice that you spent a big part of it here!

Yall ready for the largest multi quotes from me!!!!

BYC rules say to keep it family friendly. No cussing, profanity, swearing, etc

It will just get censored trust me I have done it by accident. :D
No

No
No
Not in here. There are plenty of threads for that, and plenty of threads that are nothing but kids. We don't cuss, we don't fight, but we are adults and this thread has been going for a long time. If it's too much for tender ears, then there are plenty of role playing games in the Fun and Games section. No one makes you stay here if you find the content objectionable, but no rules have been broken

Ehhhhh. Kids are fun but very naive at certain metaphors or euphemisms.

I kandle once at day 10 i dont mark air cells I sleep at night ( when I'm not reading the forum) I take chicksout every 12 hours roughly .

Welcome to the purple club my dear!!!

so are the rest of us just older kids

I agree!

Any egg shipper worth his salt would put the date collected on the egg.

Great advice BYC thanks!

I always put dates on my eggs.
I understand not washing the eggs, but I find it bad practice for a seller to send heavily soiled eggs not to mention overly porous.

My eggs are always clean esp for hatching. I will keep and eat the dirty eggs.

The ones that my hens lay in the nest box are almost pristine, the ones they decide to lay in  the corner-under the roosts can be quite dirty if I don't collect them right after they are layed.  I'm trying to keep them collected throughout the day especially because of the silkie with the calcium deficiency, but if I get a few hours I can get away from the house I'll take it. lol

Same!!!

You can report negative feedback and ask that it be reviewed and removed.

I heard that if they are marked they are treated worse intentionally and if that is true it's sad.

I honestly think ebay is getting worse.

I will never buy eggs from eBay
I asked for no stickers last time and I had the best hatch I have ever had. Just paid a lot for nice eggs and asked for no stickers again.

I think this is what happened to my CCL eggs. The box was marked fragile and that's it. Then I only had 6 that started to grow then 5 of those quit now I have just one growing well. Lockdown in 4 days.
While y'all are talking about shipped eggs, thought I would throw this in. I read that if you ask for them to be marked, like 'fragile', then the post office X-Rays them. The X-ray kills the embryos, thus resulting in a bad hatch.

Agree.

Some pics of the eggs. Note the air cell sizes.
Had to go back to phone as used phone camera.

That's just terrible. My isbar eggs arrived like this. I only had one surviving chick.
Just about to eat an egg salad sandwich, with spinach and home made bread. Unfortunately the eggs aren't home made yet. Yummy.

What are you having for tea?

Looks yummy!!! My favorite besides chicken salad sandwich.

That is horrible. Air cells aside, there are only 2 eggs in that pic I would even consider putting in my incubator. I know since they were bought, you will probably incubate them all, but I would be ashamed to send someone those eggs

I was so far behind, I can't even remember what to comment on...

Hey @RubyNala97 I haven't been able to find eggs I want, so if you are about ready to set, don't wait on me. I'll keep looking, but I'm not having much luck

Where have you been?

Thanks for the welcome... didn't mean to just drop in, lol...

Those eggs just caught my eye and are offensive for any breeder worth their salt... I'm in TN, south of Nashville... I have Ameraucanas, Araucanas, Cream Legbars, Sulmtalers, Marans, Silkies, OEGB's and bantam Araucanas...

I've seen you somewhere else. Maybe the BCM thread? When you see me refer to the eat'emup thread, that's the one I'm talking about. Very good thread with very good breeders, but feedback is straight, and to the point. You gotta have a thick skin. You kinda gotta have a thick skin here, too, but for different reasons. Not mentioning any names...
One of the most serious,to the point breeders on that thread is snowbird, but I think he has a dark side. I see him lurking here all the time

stick around you might just like it gotta warn you the big guy is here all day and he don't like the titans to much.

Let me translate: scflock is insane, posts way too much, and takes his aggression out on the kids. Well, the kid...
And the redneck Asian

And Ruby
And Walnut , when I'm feeling a little masochistic

at the moment I use a brinsea eco 20. I am also trying to do the completely blue approach when hatching my next batch of 28 pheasants.I allso have a styro one as a hatched.
Brinsea! I'm your man

I joke about being completely blue and

people for acting red, but it's all in fun. The whole point of this thread is that there are a bunch of different ways to be successful. I'm not even totally blue all the time, but am probably the most blue on the thread. My work schedule has a lot to do with that, but so does the Brinsea. It's easy to be blue when your incubator is stable

Very true, BYC.

I can vouch for the first. :hide
