They are beautiful though.So I found one of the broody's chicks dead this afternoon! I'm not sure why it died but I've been concerned that they are not eating and drinking enough. Mama always spills the food and fills the water with shavings. I took the other 3 babies away and put them in a brooder. I never see them eating. Will she be ok that I took her babies? Will the babies be ok? Should I just put her back with the flock? I don't know what to do! They are 2 & 1/2 weeks old and are extremely small for their age.

xs 2. I'd put her back in the flock.You did the right thing... those babies are way too small for their age... put her back with the flock, she'll be fine... monitor them and get vites in their water...
Silkies are great broody setters, but honestly I've only had 2 that were good mommas... they tend to be clumsy and not as aware of issues as others... jmo...![]()
