Muffinator is still with us and is doing well. It's always a relief to see her up and grazing every day. What an amazing sheep she is. I hope we can keep her comfortable this winter.

Hurray for Muffinator! She's looking good :)

Best wishes for her this winter. I begin worrying about the effects of winter on my critters (and me!) about the same time the first fall leaves are dropping.
Thanks! Wishing you all the best with you and your animals as well!! I am a bit extra worried this winter because of the age of not just Muffin but some of my chickens as well. My oldest hens will be 8 and 9 years old in a few months.

Feeling sad today...Muffin has mostly gone off her main feed (hay cubes) the last few days. She's only taking the pellets and sometimes a few nibbles of weeds and hay cubes. Not nearly as much as she needs and she's looking and feeling thin. Vet is coming on Monday. I spent some time with her tonight and she didn't want to follow me out of her pen like she usually does... :hit

I had a bad feeling before I opened your post; I just knew it wasn't going to be good news.

It's heartbreaking to see them decline and not be able to make them feel better.

Keep spending time with your girl. You've two have had so many wonderful years together; you are, no doubt, a comfort to her now.

:hugs

Thank you, @Callender Girl. It is the hardest part of keeping animals. She's one of those animals that I can't imagine losing because I've had her so long. I tell myself that she can't be here forever, but I don't actually believe it.

The vet says Muffin is looking better than she expected and she thinks she'll make it through the winter. Muffin is on the thin side but not terribly thin and is definitely in some pain from arthritis, but everything else looks good. She told us we can up the pellets a bit to keep her warmer this winter. I don't think Muffin will complain about that! 😆

What incredibly wonderful news!! I am so happy for you and Muffin!!
I know you will take the best possible care of her this winter.

Again, hurray for both of you!!!
It is a relief! Especially knowing that she can have more of her favorite food without bad effects. I forgot to mention that the vet thinks Muffin might be losing her hearing and that might be part of why she's been kind of unresponsive and droopy.
