Thanks! Wishing you all the best with you and your animals as well!! I am a bit extra worried this winter because of the age of not just Muffin but some of my chickens as well. My oldest hens will be 8 and 9 years old in a few months.Hurray for Muffinator! She's looking good
Best wishes for her this winter. I begin worrying about the effects of winter on my critters (and me!) about the same time the first fall leaves are dropping.
Thank you, @Callender Girl. It is the hardest part of keeping animals. She's one of those animals that I can't imagine losing because I've had her so long. I tell myself that she can't be here forever, but I don't actually believe it.I had a bad feeling before I opened your post; I just knew it wasn't going to be good news.
It's heartbreaking to see them decline and not be able to make them feel better.
Keep spending time with your girl. You've two have had so many wonderful years together; you are, no doubt, a comfort to her now.

It is a relief! Especially knowing that she can have more of her favorite food without bad effects. I forgot to mention that the vet thinks Muffin might be losing her hearing and that might be part of why she's been kind of unresponsive and droopy. What incredibly wonderful news!! I am so happy for you and Muffin!!
I know you will take the best possible care of her this winter.
Again, hurray for both of you!!!
