Spring pullets keep laying better over their first winter than older flockmates, but, yes, they all slow down, short days, metabolic activity shifts to optimum feather growth, preserving warmth over egg production... but you should still get eggs, just not quite as many... our high temps these days are not often over 40*... I was hoping for an Indian Summer, but it's not looking good. I have to get the rest of the storm windows in place... it's chilly inside!Thanks.. do they slow down in the winter? I hate store eggs, will go up to the farm next to us, its just a few miles away. These are my first layers. I raised meaties like 30 years ago. Our highs here are below 60 now.
