on the little chicken buggies. Let us know if the wood ash works. I had heard of it, but was afraid to use it because wet ash/lime/acid concerns. Maybe you are getting all of your frustrations packed into the end of this year so that next year will just be awesome!Its truly exciting, I was like a dad in the waiting room. didn't sleep for 2 days when I saw the very first pip!

I have so many I admit I do go with the traditional medications, just too much risk for me not to.UGh..... on top of everything else I think we have mites or lice (not sure which)! Snickers had a dirty bottom this morning which is unusual, so I picked her up to check her vent. Sure enough there were little creepy crawlies there and white eggs on her feathers! UGH!!!!I am trying to do things more naturally without using a bunch of chemicals. I have so much to do right now that I really didn't need to add treating the chickens for anything to it! Oh well... joys of having them I guess! I picked up a few more of them and didn't see any on them, but I will be doing a more detailed inspection tonight when they are on the roost. I am going to be burning some wood today so I can dust them all really good in the ash tomorrow while hubby is home to help with the kids ect.
We keep on a fairly regular schedule of worming and parasite medicines to keep the birds safe.
I do add wood ash and sand, small amounts of DE under the big truck cap they use for dust bathing.
Also add sevin dust (garden variety) occasionally and just keep rotating what goes under it.
