Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Beautiful sunny day not a cloud in the sky. 42 degrees right now and ice is melting. (Sorry friends couldn't resist. ) Snow coming tomorrow to this area. 2-4" ......Spring is so close I can feel it. So hit us with your best shot mother nature

Love the rose decoration!  snow is coming down much harder now - it's been snowing since 5 am, and had, up to about a half hour ago, amounted to only 3 inches.  we've gotten an inch in the last half hour... and the overnight is predicted to be as much as 4 inches an hour.  we're now predicted to receive a full 24".

:th

got one egg from the Fosters first thing this morning, and when I got home (10 minutes ago) I found Peachy sitting so I left her be... I'll go back out in 20 minutes or so to check again.  they'll get some form of Pie here later on... not sure what yet, but def some scrambled eggs!
WOW.....but big warm up coming next week so it will be gone soon. Would love to feed Roger scratch in 24" of fresh snow. (Paybacks....lol)

I just checked the futurecast... and yes! it is supposed to warm up next week, we even have one day predicted to reach 40*! but all of those days are also showing rain. so it will melt, and flood the village.

crazy Pie made today - 8 hard boiled eggs with the shells (I wasn't sure if they were still fit for me to eat... turns out they were...) anyway... I mashed those eggs, added a bit of leftover salad and some mashed sweet potatoes, then I added 3 cups of nice hot oatmeal and a dozen prunes that I diced up into bits. served with popcorn.

OEGBrutus waited for Peach to finish laying her Egg... then he escorted her to the Party...

I figure the Fosters are due to be named. I want to use "F" names. because they are "F"osters y'know... so this is Fiona. (which means white/fair)

I think I will rename Bakery to Fanny - and just call her Bakery as a nickname... I'm open to suggestions of F names. I prefer old fashioned names, fuddy duddy names... not that Fiona is fuddy duddy... but it is an old Celtic name... and because it means white... it suits her well. She looks gorgeous now that those 3 raping horrors are gone. they are all very very relaxed and peaceful. over the weekend, I will get pics of them all individually if they'll let me...
2 BO's, one is lighter in color than the other, 2 BR's, one is not Bakery... she's "normal"

. 2 NHR's, 2 NHR pullets, 1 NHR x BO pullet and Fiona the probable White Rock...

7 Eggs today. 1 from the Fosters, and the Dome - Peach, Blu, Esther and Delilah all laid, their eggs are so recognizable! and 2 others, green... no idea...

it's snowed so much in the last hour that I can't open the front storm door without pushing snow. I just shoveled that about 90 minutes ago, there's 5 fresh inches!

doing one of my favorite things... and going over the photos of the day... and this one made me laugh so hard...! not just because Dutch is so cute in the center there... but the little pink bit along the right side at center...

so I zoomed in. it's OEGBrutus... ! he must be after a piece of popcorn... or a seed... I do scatter stuff in the litter to encourage scratching...

Well, the snow has finally moved out, but now the wind has picked up and it is really blowing! I'm sure there will be lots of limbs and trees down in the morning! It got up to 38* this afternoon shortly before dark, so of course it started melting and is going to freeze right back... They have already called and said school was closed, so I might get to sleep in tomorrow.... if the baby doesn't get up at the butt-crack of dawn like she has been.

I got 9 eggs today. None of the chickens were brave enough to venture out onto the white stuff. I scattered some leaves in front of the coop and that helped a little. They did finally come out and go under the coop for a little bit! I'll be really glad to get the big building done, and get them moved over into it... That will help lots, and they will have more room! Then I think I will have hubby move the little coop and take the roosts and nest boxes out, and use it for the goats that we are planning on getting in several weeks. Decisions decisions! LOL

2 of our Serama girls are Fanny and Fudge. It's funny how they both tie in to Bakery.

Had to take my dad in for a screening test that involved sedation (he passed with flying colors and no one could believe he was 80), so have been gone all day. Haven't even been out to check on the mob, but there were zero eggs out when I let them out this morning. Yesterday was 6, which is good for us. Couple of the Seramas are molting, and they hardly lat at all. Maybe one egg every other day. Yeah sure, and I'm gonna hatch eggs. Ha, maybe next month.

One of these things is not like the others... One of these things just doesn't belong...
