Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Sorry to hear that. Is there anything more that can be done for your mom? Try to get your dad to the doctor. It's so hard when the parent/child roles get reversed and we have to start telling them what to do. My hubs has been in Arizona since Sat helping out his sis whose husband has been struggling with pneumonia since October. He was in and out of hospitals, home for a while, but got really weak so back in hospital, on to rehab, get a fever, back to hospital. He is 82 and has COPD from smoking for the first half of his life. The docs thought maybe it wasn't pneumonia, but some other problem, Finally did a culture to discover two separate strains, so is now on two different antibiotics. He's back at rehab center now, but has lost much strength and cannot walk without help. My SIL is very petite so he has to regain strength before he can come home. We are hoping this is not the beginning of the end for him, but recovery will be a chore. He is tired and cranky and now starting to have chest pains.

So keep bugging your dad to see the doctor. Maybe you can use a little guilt trip on him- something to the effect of "I can't take care of mom when I'm worrying about you too!" He may not do it for himself, but might for others. Good luck!

I am facing the reality that she has chosen to not try. I talk to her often about it, but have backed off because she gets so upset. She has the option of transplant and we are trying to get her approved. Thank you! so true! Dad wont listen with out the guilt. I have been laying it on telling him he HAS to be strong for mom, he agreed to go to the VA clinic this week. Hope your SIL improves, smaller built peeps really have trouble building back up from illness.

I don't know what kind of combs they have. I will look in a week or so. Okay, I will look daily, but doubt I can tell for a week.
I have no idea how many eggs I got today. Dh is home, and everything is hectic for 48-50 hours until he leaves again. I do remember the big gang only gave me 7 yesterday. I have not had less than 8 in a very long time. It was weird. The Angels gave me 3 yesterday. I think the Angels gave me 2 today, and the Biker Chicks gave me 10 or 11. Ha ha. I really don't know! Very distracted.
It was 2 EE and a Marans with 7 eggs from the other gang, and yesterday was 11 eggs from the Chicks and 2 Marans from the Angels.

So sorry. That's really a tough thing to go through with your mom. Is it her liver or kidneys? My mom had stage 4 colon cancer and tried the first round of chemo, although couldn't complete it and declined the second round. My sis and I helped my dad care for her until she passed, and home hospice was a great help. Gosh, it's been over 6 years now and I still get teary about it. She was only 66.

Hope your dad's case is simple. Glad to hear he'll see a doctor soon. My dad turned 80 yesterda,y and I took him out for lunch. (Thai food!!!) All of us kids will take him out for dinner on Friday, too. My b-day is coming up soon, so there will be far too much overindulging going on around here!

Oh, it's not my SIL with the pneumonia, but her husband. SIL is barely 5' tall, and her husband is over 6', so she's not really strong enough to help him physically. He's got to regain strength at the rehab center before going home, but he sure is hating it there!

You guys are making me cry! I just prayed for all of you. I hope things improve.

Thanks so much MC! We are having beautiful weather here, I guess winter is over for us, so that's very cheering. Also, just yesterday, found out from my friend (since 4th grade!) that her husband is not facing a nasty cancer as thought, but that his blood chemistry had been affected by cholesterol medication. They have been on pins and needles for months trying to establish a diagnosis, and the oncologist was not hopeful. Fortunately, my girlfriend is a nurse and did tons of research and found an obscure link to the cholesterol meds and, against the docs advice, made her hubby quit taking it. Now his blood work is almost back to normal, and they will have to find a new way to deal with the high cholesterol, but he's good to go otherwise. Such a relief!

Also good news that I got to give the Mob some treats yesterday, red cabbage and a little scratch. Made me happy to see them so happy and today they have rainbow colored poos from the red cabbage! It's fun. You should try it! We can also resume fresh egg consumption.

I have been hoarding the eggs we collected before worming, but my stock has dwindled. Hmmm, maybe breakfast for dinner this week!

You are welcome. I really feel for you guys!
Better news ... Guess who began laying today? Midnight!!! The Ameraucana finally gave me an egg! I am sure it wasn't Cadbury because it was so blue compared to the other EE eggs. Besides, I don't expect Cadbury's to be too big with her problem. I am still hopeful that she will lay, though!
See how BLUE it is?
You can also see that (some of) the Marans eggs are getting darker. Ignore the dirty egg.
The non-feather legged bantam is a rooster. See the tail?
Anyone have ideas on breeds it could be?

!!

wow! lots to catch up on! winter isn't over here, it's snowing now... it was pouring the other day, and then it all froze. my yard looks like a skating rink.

those serama chicks are so darn cute! love the tails! if Donut is a roo, y'all can start a little flock.

all the chick pics are so adorable... I'll just have to add more... Peach's baby is getting barring on it's wings. very silvery and it's legs are pinkish. have to wait a little longer to see for sure, but that's Sirus.

I bookmarked that page with the Gluten Free Easter treats. those look good, and fun... and they had lots of other recipes on the page.

fruity/cocoa pebbles treats are so sweet, they make my teeth hurt just looking at them... kids like them and they are eye catching. something to do with my granddaughter when she comes to visit - 2 weeks - they will be here in 2 weeks, and hopefully my grandson will be born during the 2 weeks that they are here visiting.
it will be fun, and Mylee will get to meet so many family members. she has her mother's entire family to meet. it's a long and very sad story, but Mylee's mom died when Mylee was 3 weeks old. my step son did the best he could to stay in touch, but he moved to New Mexico a year and a half ago, to be closer to his family. Mylee has 2 sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins... and a half sister to spend time with.

I've started a meal worm farm, thanks to OK and Roger's model. they are thriving, like slow motion dolphins swimming in the wheat bran. oh and one thing... don't put meal worms in styrofoam while you look for the fish tank. they can climb out, and they can bore through.

they are fast lil buggers! i have GOBS of the things, 2 large totes and a 3 drawer thing. Daughter feeds them to her sugar gliders, I use them for the Oscars and the Turtles. I feed out about 4 ounces every other day to all the different sets of birds for a boost too! During the summer we will be using them for fishing too.
