Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

for real? heritage BR's??? I think Roger may have contacted the ebay seller behind your back... Congratulations on such an excellent hatch! 10 chicks and maybe 11 is incredible... I was confident that RK would take them in without batting an eyelash feather!

Mylee's Official Response: why is that poop there?
"I would lay a Purple One and a Brown One and a Blue One and a Pink One and a Green One!" and are you gonna tell me why is that poop there?

OMGosh, OK! You have me wanting to hatch some chicks so bad! Too funny you are raising more Rogers Heathens Barred Rocks.

Chirp, I have ... I am trying to figure out how many. I am looking at my list, and I should have 35 counting roosters and chicks. I keep counting them up to 37.
I think I have twenty laying. I know the 3 EE aren't. I know the 3 chicks aren't. I hope the five roosters aren't. Of the six new members of the laying coop, I think only 2 pullets began last week.
How bad is is that I am down under 40, and I still can't figure out how many chickens I have? Ha ha.
There is a Chinese restaurant owner that may buy my extra eggs. I will be baking and freezing soon too.

16 eggs yesterday, but only 8 or 9 (I forget) today. Lots of tomatoes from the garden!!

Message from Ebay seller: "Yes sir I will be glad to split the order and instead of sending you 12 Heritage Delaware hatching eggs I will send you 6 Heritage Delaware and 6 Heritage Barred Rock hatching eggs" Please tell me I didn't read that right......

Oh my goodness.... When I first saw the pic of RK Broody and chicks, I was really hoping you accidentally got some Australorps or something, but the yellow spots on their heads were pretty obvious... Roger's influence is becoming a little scary.

On the bright side, heritage BRs will probably have a very calm and easy going temperament. They'll be larger and mature more slowly. Maybe they will teach you-know-who some manners.

Now we continue the wait for the last egg (did you sniff it?) and the even longer wait to see how many boys and girls you got.

Congrats on your little grand-chicks!

on last check, all are quietly roosting, and I found 2 more Eggs for a daily total of 14! love those hens!

a couple of days ago, I rearranged the boys, split off a section of the bachelor pen for the 2 cochins and the 2 RIR's who live peacefully together still... I installed a new larger roost today, and all four are on the new one tonight. smart little fellas...

Tell her the poop is there because chickens don't know how to flush the toilet.

Wish I had a chicken that could lay all those colors.

she has become a bit poop obsessed. if there's a poop on the walkway, she has to bring me over to show me, and then we have to get a cup of water to pour on the spot. she asks me "why the cluck clucks gotta poop everywhere?" and before I can answer, "yeah", she says... "I know, they just do..."

I got her a recorder (instrument) at the dollar store, and showed her how to cover the hole on the bottom to play all the notes... she's great at it! and she sits outside playing music for everyone, hoping that the deer will come listen too... she has the greatest imagination!

Well hatch you some out. Use the chicken math excuse. You can feed them tomatoes. Did you get rid of all those eggs?

Quote: The last egg is not looking good. I will know by morning. The chicks were playing soccer with it when I got home today. It did pip but I have not seen anything since. I will give it some more time. Right now is officially 21 days. Friday night three weeks ago when I set eggs and gave broody hers. I believe broody hatched hers at or around 19 days. They were dry and fluffy when I saw them early on the 20th day. I could be wrong but the chicks in the incubator took quite a while to dry out and fluff up. Broody already had chicks dry, fluffy, and running around before the first one in the incubator hatched
