Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

W4W your Serema at up looks nice for a hodgepodge!

Lindz -ahhhh I can't take more hatching!!! I get so nervous!!! Lol and it's you doing all the work!!!

Mortie-bigger is better!

On another note I am NEVER brooding inside again. I just spent two hrs de-dusting everything and am no where near done!

While I was doing that guess who was practicing his digging skills??

19 Eggs today, along with more snow flurries and high winds... right now the sky is so blue - it's beautiful... but deceiving. I just went out for a last egg check, thought I might let them out for half hour or so... but the wind practically ripped the door right out of my hand, then blew me around the yard, so ... forget it for today.

Chester has been so good for this fur family - I realized just how much today... he submits to Ruby, but is so much bigger that she can't boss him too much, and they have been drinking together, at the same time... for quite a while now. it's mellowed Ruby out. not so much that she won't give chase if anybody bats an eyelash when she has her "chewy"... but look!

she shared the egg salad with Min Min! (actually, I gave it to Min... and Ruby barged in, but she was very polite about it...)

CLindz, get pine sol. whatever scent you prefer - the stuff is amazing at cleaning up "in the house brooding messes" I destroyed my dining room last year, won't EVER do it again... but pine sol was my saving grace - it really disinfected and got the smell out as well as zipped up the dust!

Rawley is too cute

W4W, I meant to say something earlier about the serama setup. quite cool, especially since you already had it - I love re-purposing things. that's how the Dome came about too... all it cost me was 2 100' rolls of hardware cloth and some nuts, bolts and washers to hold it all together.

lindz, you've done it now! hatchaholism is next!

you are going to have so much fun!

Thanks for the tip cheeka! I've been using Clorox wipes but want to hit everything again so I'll let it dry and air out and then hit it w pine sol!!

Digging skills? I dunno... that looks like getting a dust bath ready.

The same thing happened to Belle when Scooter showed up. Really mellowed her out and was the best thing for her.

Sure hope spring makes it out your way soon. I really dislike the wind; makes my ears hurt just thinking about it.

Whew... It has been a busy day so far. I got a dust bath for the girls and they are ignoring it. The loose spots in the run are all tied down and I put a little pine needles in for the girls to scratch through. Thank goodness for pine trees. A little earlier, I saw a squirrel outside the pen eating some seeds that fell next to the fencing. The squirrel then went to the sunflower seed container and tried to unscrew it. After failing at that... he jumped on the nest box and tried to pry it open. The little bugger kept looking for openings.

That is what got me to wire the poultry netting on the top of the pen together.

Yea when I saw squirrel tracks leading into the coop I knew I'd have to wire the top of the pen cause I wasn't paying to feed them!

W4W- haha!!! It does look like a dust bath!!

Poor Hecate! She laid an 85.7 gram egg today

When I saw her and Hattie's eggs in the nest I was laughing because I though Hattie had made her first "wind egg" Then, I realized my scale was off when I picked them up and Hattie's egg was normal sized. Gosh I bet poor Hecate did quite the cackle for that one.
