Show me UGLY coops- where my peeps at?

And I need to make a real roof for the run! And I want the coop taller. Maybe I will use all that wood after all...

Wellllll.... thank you. But most hurricanes have not really directly hit us hard in the years that we've been here in NC (since 1997). We don't live directly on the coast, and that isn't a place I'd want to be at all. Even living here, I can't imagine that. I always go into shock myself at the pictures/videos of the coastal devastation(s).

We are lucky in that we haven't had major or long power outages either. In the past, that wouldn't have been an issue for watering as we'd always been on county/city water. Now we are on our own well and that does change the perspective a whole lot. We eventually plan on having solar power (at least for our well) and a back up generator. We can live for heat & cooking with fireplace, outdoor fire pit and grills. Right now, we are lucky. The family at the end of our road is a registered C-Pap user (I think I have that right? - Heart condition) - SO our power has been restored w/i a short time every time it's gone out! I didn't know/understand why until this last storm.

Sorry, that last part was my attempt at dry humor, lol. Doesn't work so well on the internet.

I'm glad to hear you haven't been badly affected by storms. The power company here is for profit and doesn't care if you're on a cpap or life support or what. When I worked in respiratory therapy a lot of folks with cpaps had small generators and marine batteries. We live outside city limits, so it often takes a long time to get power back. My mother in law used to live near a hospital, so we'd always go there because her power was never off for long!

That's not ugly! It's very cute. I love the scallop effect the dogeared boards give. A frame around the window, and you're gold. I just used an old picture frame for my window, easy!

Good idea! I've put shutters on the windows since then. Well, not shutters so much as covers that open upward and close to keep out weather. I can still put a bit of frame around them.
