Wellllll.... thank you. But most hurricanes have not really directly hit us hard in the years that we've been here in NC (since 1997). We don't live directly on the coast, and that isn't a place I'd want to be at all. Even living here, I can't imagine that. I always go into shock myself at the pictures/videos of the coastal devastation(s).
We are lucky in that we haven't had major or long power outages either. In the past, that wouldn't have been an issue for watering as we'd always been on county/city water. Now we are on our own well and that does change the perspective a whole lot. We eventually plan on having solar power (at least for our well) and a back up generator. We can live for heat & cooking with fireplace, outdoor fire pit and grills. Right now, we are lucky. The family at the end of our road is a registered C-Pap user (I think I have that right? - Heart condition) - SO our power has been restored w/i a short time every time it's gone out! I didn't know/understand why until this last storm.
