Last hatch was actually 22 out of 23. There's always one that quits on me. Oh well
Got 4 birds setting. 3 miners(2 hens,1 pullet)and a leiper pullet.
I switched that miner pullets eggs with 4 rubles and 2 blacks. Man did she drop the hammer on me. Lol. Went right back to setting thankfully.

Sounds like when I took the redquill chicks from their blue hen today she flipped her lid.
When my friend brought the chicks he's like well I have 2 different brooders different ages and the Albany and lacys are all together. I tried to pick all Albany but u may have a lacy or two. Fine by me lol. I'll have to see if any legs turn pearl they seem all yellow to me but it is hard to tell right now

I had so many chicks In the incubator last night but still had a half dozen pipped so they stayed til morning. I leave for work too early. My wife did a few toe punches and put them all in the shed for me around 6 am. Rubles, leipers, miners, black X grey, WH X kelso, 1 black and 1 black X ruble. Lol I can tell them all apart aside from the black X ruble which is toe punched anyway. I keep my small notebook with me at all times.

When I incubated I took chicks out as they fluffed up with no problems with the others in the shells drying out but I would not advise anybody else to do that. Our relative humidity is always high. I've had more problems with chicks growing too big to zip more than anything else and that's with no water till the 18th day. Talking Styrofoam incubators too. Since I did it so much I perfected timing and peeling them leaning over the sink with warm water running and tweasers

I was just talking broody hens yesterday

I never had any of those fancy incubators
