When I incubated I took chicks out as they fluffed up with no problems with the others in the shells drying out but I would not advise anybody else to do that. Our relative humidity is always high. I've had more problems with chicks growing too big to zip more than anything else and that's with no water till the 18th day. Talking Styrofoam incubators too. Since I did it so much I perfected timing and peeling them leaning over the sink with warm water running and tweasers

Yep I've gotten real good with the sink hatching with tweezers. I've taken chicks out mid hatch with no issues but I'd rather leave em as long as I can anyway.
I knew you were talking broody hens. I only put eggs I know 100% I will be able to tell apart otherwise it's just one breed, preferably.

Man the weather sucks around here. All rain, cloudy and lows in the low 40's for the next week. Little ones might get a bit chilly
