*in attempt to sidetrack things from a full out duel...*

Do you guys have a issue of game birds "learning" how evil the net is? My Krainkoppe mixes are the devil on that behalf and got the others trained to run from me and the net. I can save the thing within a 100 yards and they scatter with feathers in the air :he
I use a net as a last resort and almost never on stags and cocks. Using a net on roosters will p*ss them off in a hurry.
Best to try to feed them by hand for awhile. Let em get close to you without touching them for a few days and slowly over time they'll warm up to you.

Unfortunately if I pop in the pen all the birds run for it, even the Cochins (shocker for such a docile breed) my Fibro birds I am trying to brib with daily treats and sitting though. On our old place they free range the area we had to use a net (took us two months to capture all the birds, all 30+ of them :th )

I dont use nets ,i grab at night off roost or have too case i wade right in a grab em , but most times at night.

Focus on the most docile of them. The rest should com around eventually after seeing them close to you without you grabbing them. I have 40+ birds running loose right now. I can walk down my steps from the deck with a stag I've barely handled standing on them and they won't even flinch. They know I'm not messing with them though.

If I'm worming, delousing, dubbing or moving birds around I do it at night too. It's just way easier. You can set a bird down on the ground without too much worry of them pen fighting. During the day if they slip out on ya some are wailing away on the next pen within seconds.

I have much less of them now and are going to be culling even more this spring to narrow it down to only couple of breeds. I'll try to start more bribing with the laying flock in hopes of getting the layers that are staying friendly.

I do give grace to my serama/game mixes since they are use to not being messed with ^^; and with my oldest pair at 5 years old they don't eveny try to fly out of the layer pen.

To ship chickens I just put them in a shipping box and bring it to the post office? Any bedding, straw? Piece of Apple or something? Paperwork? I guess I could call my local po and see just wanted a quick run down.

It's been a while, but it is pretty simple. Filling out the paperwork took me the longest, but that was not bad. I used shavings and some fruit. Shipping birds, mostly peeps seems more common these days, so fewer funny looks. They never asked for any paperwork from me other than the shipping form, Express mail I think it was. Not sure about international shipping...

Flypen has more experience than I but I'll answer anyway.
I put bedding, slice of apple. Feed and water just before boxing up. Recipients address and phone number on outside of box.
