Quick update. The winds down here in Texas made a complete mess of my rooster/stag area. Lost 2 stags to a raccoon. 5 stags got bloody feet and faces. 1 stag lost the tip of his beak, and 2 toes(no idea how he managed that)(culled). Down to 30 stags :(. On the brightside, pullets started laying, I'm collecting around 4 eggs a day. Got two determined and broody hens, a Hatch and Radi:hmmne is on 4 eggs and the other on 3 eggs. Gonna take care of them to get a little preview batch, hatched. Tomorrow I'm heading to Live Feed store to pick up 4 50lbs of this awesome protein heavy feed for the roosters, for 12.50 a pop(best feed for the price I've seen in San Antonio). Hoping my pops is up to dub all the roosters sometime this week, so I can start marketing and selling, and get them out of the way to prepare for the upcoming breeding season. I feel that with everything I've learned These past 2 years, I'm going to hatch even more chicks, but also cull more strategically. I've had really good feedback on my Radios so far, and the Grey I got paired with my Radio hens has a good rep., so I'm confident these next stags will be my best. Currently debating wether to drop some serious money on 1 Radio broodcock or 3-5 grey hens, but now that I think about it, I'm probably going to wait to see the results of these upcoming Grey Radios.

Sorry about the winds and the damage it did to your birds... but glad to hear your breeding program is going good. I hope it is not windy again here tonight, it has been crazy windy this winter. Luckily the coop I have is pretty heavy and in a wind blocked area to a certain degree so it seems to be weathering the high winds okay when they have happened here.

Thanks man, I was out there all day long tying everything down with heavy gauge wire. I'm confident any winds from here on out won't cause any trouble. My only dilemma now is why aren't my dogs doing their job! They followed me to the crime scene, and before I even got a chance to scorn them, they all had their heads down as if they knew they slacked and messed up. :/
I still lovem, but I need to take some time and develop a training routine to solidify in their brain that protecting the birds is their job too.

@Lauravonsmurf winds suck but it seems like your good. Around how many birds do you have in total?

I got a whole 2 spoiled hens... I live in suberbia, so no roosters allowed. I had years ago a mixed flock,.I love games for a variety of reasons but not in my cards right now to keep. I am here learning or the day I can keep more birds again including games. Got to say I have learned tons from the game fowl keepers.

But you know my two spoiled birds are my girls so I would be upset if Thir coop flipped, or got crushed. I fully admit their pets, but also my experimental gals... try new things on.

2 or 782 don't matter. And unlike the majority you are researching and learning prior to getting any games which is commendable

Wind is ripping, some power lines down. Ain't home from work yet but I have confidence in my craftsmanship. Ex; my ability to put one deck screw through a 2" wooden stake
