I wish but I can keep no roosters here. So they are all unfertalized eggs. When I retire (which is a long way away it seems) I plan to move to someplace I can breed my own birds, thus the research aspect of me hanging out here... which breeds, which strains, behaviors, breeding advice and specialized keeping concerns and so on. So I just shamelessly drool :drool over all your guys roosters...

Genetically I wish I could breed these girls... they both carry the dominate blue egg gene with no brown genes, both have a similar base pattern but one carries the blue gene... also it would be interesting to see weight and behavior diffrences in chicks, one will fly and spin the other prefers to duck under... just things I have observed, there is a weight difference between the girls. Alas not allowed roosters. :(

They are known for being amazing broods. Every game hen I own goes broody at least once a year, usually 2-3 times a year, depending on how long they tend the chicks

Do you guys know anyone who would be able to ship hatching eggs or chicks? Any hatcheries that have some or anyone on here? I really want a breed that free ranges well but also goes broody.

They look nice. How many gamefowl eggs do you think you can get in the 56? It seems to me they are somewhere in size between the pheasant and duck eggs. Capacities with standard egg carriers (approximate): Quail: 96 Pheasant: 96 Hen: 56 Duck: 56
I imagine it'll hold a couple more, especially if there is a few pullet eggs involved.

There are people who sell eggs on eBay but do research on seller, some folks are on byc for other breeds that sell hatching eggs... but and this is important understand the gamefowl are not like semi wild layers, they have a high territorial and high dominance drives and can start rumbling very young depending on breed and strain. You should chat with the guys here as to best keep and raising practices, also gamefowl may lay less and again breed effects size as well.

I for instance know I need several more coops for when I plan to just add pullets that are gamefowl to be on safe side for all birds.
