There was no "flaming" or "confrontational" anything. Unless you count my post responding to the op that in fact I didn't have gamefowl but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. I can't imagine it got cut because of that.

Not me... I thought that was blunt truth...

Problem is, some member got their panties in a wad and reported it, for whatever reason... wearing purple and hot pink is against their delicate sensibilities, I guess...

Truth is what makes this thread so appealing.
Even though I don't have games, I find the conversation interesting, educational and fun.

BTW Havoc - Just classic about the Holiday Inn, I about spilled my coffee over that one!

nobody but he and his breeder (if they know) knows what he is. It really depends on where he came from. He could have came from a real breeder or he could be the offspring of frivilous mating by someone just looking to make a dollar and the buyer realized he didn't get a real game chicken and dripped him off somewhere. How were his offspring described at sale? And I don't think your "getting" into anything. What do you mean? It reads like your apprehensive possibly from talking with other non game chicken owners or some other negatives. Game chickens can be quite rewarding but I believe they should not be crossed into "regular" chickens. Looks like he's molting and someone put at least a little time in him since he's dubbed
Thank you for the reply. The chicks were listed as "bantam crosses" with a picure of the roo and blurb about his mystery status. It wasn't an intentional breeding. Just two sneaky birds with their own ideas.
I've decided to just continue to enjoying him as is. If we incubate any eggs next year I'll keep a couple of hens for ourselves and make the rest fryers.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.

I enjoy this thread for various reasons even when we go off topic about the realities of life and our very different opinions. I am too old for the walking on egg shell thing.

Back to birds... Havoc do you have tie fly birds or does anyone on here? There is a difference in feather besides length or no?

I got to do some clea ing this weekend and I am going to try and figure out an anti creepy crawly recipe from the old game fowl book using what I am thinking is black pepper... Did a bit of research and yes black pepper is being used as an insecticide on plants... So mad science time from archaic sources.

Fly ties, you mean? Genetic hackle? I don't have those, but I do have Ohiki and non-molting longtails...

And yes, there's a difference... not only are the feathers longer, they are much softer and thinner than other birds... not too good for tying flies, actually...

I've never raised games nor have I been around them. I am very interested in them, and have enjoyed the pics and discussions in this thread. Hope you all don't mind if I pop in from time to time with some noobie questions.
