In the woods u can smell them a Mile away. We killed a sow one time and it looked like a smelly pile of mud in the truck. Sorry them things are nasty.
Anyway.....like to kill one
Thank u our winters are in the 60s and 70s but can freeze at night but its usually 40 something at night here in winter. Thanks for the info. I'm wanting something like what you are doing I'm just not that impressed with these lay pellets and I've changed Brands a couple of timesI formulate a diet that has 18 to 20% protein while they are growing fast, in heavy molt or producing eggs. The mix has a good about whole grains like oats, milo, shelled corn and BOSS. Since fish and animal offal not available here I use a chick grower with 24% crude protein pull nutrient density up. A little alfalfa pellets also part of mix.
Diet leaner on protein during winter as no growth or repro for almost 4 months. They also eat a lot more then.
Turn them loose. They won't go far unless something helps them. Its already started at about 6weeks old. Seems to be healthy and unfazed by whatever happenView attachment 1126445
