Ya my catch pens are 36" and perfect height for reaching from top...

I wonder if you could hinge the whole metal roof, instead of cutting it? Or if you overlap 2, just hinge one side.

good idea, catch them against the roof.
Yes sir. Gotta be fast though. This how you find out if a bird will hit you lol. Had a penny move away then as I pulled the pen down with me in it he squared me up. He’s a big strong SOB too!
He’s one of 3 birds I have that are iffy. Him, a blue and a ruble that is mad at the world.
I don’t go just strolling up flipping pens though I’m pretty slow with it and talking to em the whole time.
I had a black that would drop kick me off his roost at night with no light at all. Finally had to kill him. He grabbed the vein in my forearm and wouldn’t let go.

I was thinking of hinging just one side. It might make feeding and watering from the top easier too. Probably way overthinking this...

I don’t judge whether or a bird is mean by the pen like I said before. They fight for territory and hens. I’m backing him into a corner this way. Not the best but the quickest for me.

Different colored legs lol

Thanks. I am still toying with round pens. I can bend a piece of 10' conduit into a hoop for the top and bottom support. I don't have a guard dog or fence, so will probably go with 1/2 wire on the sides and metal roofing on the top. I am undecided on a door... No door, side door in the wire or hinge part of the roof?
Every pen I have has a door on it, a door on them makes my life easier.
