My wife said get me some Guineas, so I got her some eggs from my buddy

I am going to try Guinea Fowl. Can I keep the owls from eating them will be the question.

I have to go fishing too. Not real fishing. Just catching hog bass from a catchment pond fed by raceways holding bait fish. The bass all but come up and want to swim into bucket so I can put them in hauler. They still big.

I’ve had guineas before. A couple different batches. I think it’s a love or hate type deal. I hate em. God they are so annoying. I had this one male that would pen fight with a black. Pretty sure it was a combination of the black not tolerating any male near his pen and this guinea was a piece of work.

Finally I put the black on a cord and wouldn’t you know that guinea went after him. He got a lot more then he was looking for but he took a beating and kept on coming lol. Damn guineas are tough but they lack survival skills in North America. I don’t like to call animals stupid because they are out of their element but guineas sure fit the bill.

My buddy told my wife they kill snakes and that's all it took, he gave her 18 eggs. So I'm incubating eggs now because she hates snakes.

My adult chickens do kill small speckled King snakes.

I’ve seen on two occasions where guinea hens setting on eggs in the woods wouldn’t give up the nest to a raccoon on one and a possum on another.
They held their ground screaming at them til I came out and took care of them. Raccoon was in broad daylight. They ain’t the brightest but they have balls.

Does cock help hen defend brood? During day many of the game cocks will do just that.
