Mine keep going unless some sort of intervention. Often with no older males to disrupt, they will also start fighting even when free-range. Video I posted a few years back involved free-range brood that were battling it out in drive way when I got home from work. They gave signs in morning that something was up.
I must have missed that video. The cocks seem unfazed by the little battles. Sometimes the hens will get involved but usually not. They seem to take place when they are outside and have room to spread out but choose not to.

I have yet to observe cocktail attack the combatants. Mechanism by some other means.
