Do you have weasels? You guys have a few cats running around like me. I would think they would kill most rodents. Mice wouldn’t do that and I don’t think a rat would fit through that opening. Set a couple rat snap traps with some kind of bloody meat for bait.

Hmm could be that you have a few mice around but I would think that is separate than the issue of killing chicks. In my wooden pens with chicks in there I’ve seen mice when changing out the bedding.
Either way a rat trap will kill a rat or a weasel just fine.

Good thing I stayed home and did nothing cause of the storms we were supposed to have today. I almost got hit by one of the three drops

We were having a barbecue today but it’s supposed to storm. Well see if it does or not. Usually when I cancel it’ll be nice all day.

yeah it dosnt really matter the outcome is the same. I think ima put out some traps tonight and hopefully kill a few of the chick eating rodents. The cats here I wouldn't rely on to keep on top of the rodent population. First they would have to actually stand up and move so that pretty much leaves them out

Yeah I hear ya. I would still definitely bait some rat traps like you were after weasels just in case. If I ever had any weasels here they could clean me out. The way my pens are all built they could get into all of them.

Birds dig that hole? Mine dig like that. The other day I couldn’t see a leiper cock. My heart skipped a beat. I ran over and there he was rolling around in the dirt damn near a foot lower than the rest of the pen floor.
