I know it goes without saying but happy memorial day and stay safe on the roads. There was a terrible accident not far from my house yesterday and I know the strip and people fly and don't pay attention and on the other side of an overpass traffic backs up cause of congestion and people come over the overpass not paying attention to the stopped traffic on the other side

Yeah that looks pretty bad. Gonna need a little more than a buffing wheel

My kelso cock likes to dig pretty good sized holes and roll around in the dirt quite often that is if he's not up pacing flying and kicking the pen thinking it's feed time all the time.

A lot of days of record or record heat here lately. It is causing me real trouble trying to keep birds cool, especially those in pens in barn. Air flow is the problem.
I second that. I know it is all relative, but this early heat and humidity has been rough on everything! It looks like 3 days of storms coming up, but hopefully temps will moderate after that.

I am not seeing a break in current forcast. Will assume it will be here in September so will be working on installing a fan that will circulate barn air. May add some water tanks for evaporative cooling although impact will be limited owing to high humidity. Fish tank water in shade now well into 80's and likely to push 90. Trying to establish floating plant cover to break some light, but it is the air temperature not dropping at night that is the problem.

There are changes mine go through that are beyong fluffing up. Something changes with metabolism as well to keep them going even when it is -10 F. It takes a while for birds to adapt to heat each spring. Young birds have to adapt too for some reason even though they have yet to experience a winter. My American Dominiques never seem able to adapt to heat as well. The eclipse molt I think is part of what helps cocks get through heat of summer.
